Community Care Ambulance (CCA) is excited to announce an EMT On-The-Job Training Program that offers an opportunity to start an exciting and challenging career! CCA will support you by providing on the job training and paying for you to attend EMT classes and the class tuition. During this time, you will attend classes to prepare you for EMT certification and ride time in the field. After the completion of your less than 4-month class, you will have job placement opportunity as a Full Time EMT with CCA. From there, CCA provides numerous leadership and educational development opportunities to expand and grow within the EMS field. We are eager to get you started!!

Work Schedule 40 hours per week (Combination of class hours and worked hours)

  • Class Schedule is typically 4 days a week for 4 hours

To Qualify

  • Candidates must be at least 18 years of age
  • Valid Driver's License (minimum 2 years) & Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record
  • Candidate must have high school diploma or GED
  • Successfully complete Criminal, Medical and Drug screening
  • Commit to sign & commit to an 24 month agreement working as an FT EMT with Community Care Ambulance
Qualifications

Once you've completed CPR & First Aid / EVOC/ Patient Handling portion of the EMT Program, you will begin duties as a Wheel Chair Technician and other company needs thereafter, upon completion of the EMT program, your job will include the following responsibilities:

The EMT-basic is primarily responsible for providing basic life support to patients and/or assisting the paramedic in the delivery of advanced life support.

The EMT-Basic is responsible for providing the basic pt care to the pt. They shall identify and provide customer service and effective communications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

  • Must be 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must possess a valid Ohio EMT certification,
  • Current CPR card and First Aid Card;
  • Ashtabula County protocol and;
  • Ohio Driver’s License and meet Community Care’s insurability requirements.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Requires bending, twisting, squatting, kneeling, lifting, and other repetitive movements associated with the transport of patients. Must be able to lift onto a stretcher and then carry, with the assistance of a partner, a person weighing not less that 225 pounds. Eyesight must be in compliance with the standards set forth by the O.D.O. T. for day and night driving, and may be corrected with the aid of prescription eyewear. Hearing of low and high frequencies is required and may be corrected with the use of hearing aids.

TOOLS USED:
All emergency medical supplies and equipment within the scope of practice:

  • Oxygen tanks and regulators, stretchers, splints, backboards, suction;
  • Vehicle lights & sirens, radio, telephone;
  • Beeper equipment, such as monitor/defib or pulse oximeter work it is beneficial if the basic EMT is familiar with this equipment.
  • Must be able to assist a person with higher certification in performing their duties to the patient (i.e. setting up an IV, placing the patient on the cardiac monitor, etc.)

Skills Required

  • At least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license (minimum 2 years) and acceptable motor vehicle record; meet Community Care insurability requirements
  • Successfully complete criminal, medical, and drug screening
  • Commit to a 24-month agreement working as a full-time EMT with Community Care Ambulance
  • Current CPR card and First Aid card
  • Ohio EMT certification
  • Knowledge of Ashtabula County protocol
  • Ability to meet physical demands (bend, lift, carry with partner up to 225 pounds; vision and hearing that meet standards)
  • Familiarity with emergency medical equipment (oxygen, stretchers, monitors) and ability to assist higher-certified personnel
  • Completion/participation in EVOC/patient handling training (program component)
