Responsibilities:

  • Receive incoming emergency and non-emergency calls. Promptly ascertain proper levels of response; allocate resources to match dynamic system demands.
  • Clean interior and exterior of the assigned work area
  • Obtain information from patient or calling party (e.g. insurance, name, patient’s status, location, destination, etc.)
  • Monitor and document response times of units.
  • Investigate and report all time exceptions.
  • Complete other related paperwork.
  • Assist with the orientation of new call takers.
  • Answer requests for medical support personnel.
  • Complete and submit daily status reports, including, response time exceptions, response time compliance, exception percentage (by zone), and unusual incidents.
  • Complete daily report and report problems to a supervisor.
  • Maintain career path requirements.
  • Maintain clean and orderly work area.
  • Comply with continuing education requirements,
  • Keep all licenses and certificates current.
  • Heavy phones, messages, filing, and clerical duties.
  • Function as a public relations representative when dealing with facilities and/or agencies, etc.
  • Conduct yourself in a courteous, helpful, and professional manner at all times when dealing with patients, co-workers, supervisors and/or the public
  • Responsible for adhering to all company manuals, policies, procedures, training, and memorandums.
  • Perform other duties as required/assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Current or past EMT certificate preferred.
  • Ability to locate hospitals and major facilities to maintain effective communication skills with both co-workers, patients, patient’s family, dispatch, and hospital staff and base stations, and interfacing agencies.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Type 30 WPM accurately.
  • Familiar with data entry procedures.
