Job Description

As Employee Relations Business Partner, you’ll play a critical role supporting the business to manage people risk and maintain a culture that is fair, commercially balanced and values driven.

Reporting to the Manager – People & Culture Business Partnering, you’ll work on end-to-end ER matters and work closely with an HR Business Partner, leaders and MedHealth. You’ll also support safety and workers compensation processes across atWork Australia, including being the first responder to safety incidents.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage end‑to‑end ER cases including misconduct, grievances, performance management and terminations
  • Conduct and oversee workplace investigations ensuring procedural fairness, compliance and balanced against business outcomes
  • Coach People and Culture team and leaders to strengthen ER capability
  • Analyse ER data and trends and provide information to the People and Culture team
  • Work with the MedHealth Safety and Workers Compensation team to be the conduit between atWork Australia and MedHealth.
  • Monitor all safety incidents and respond accordingly, including conducting workplace investigations where relevant

Qualifications

You are a confident hands-on ER and/or HR Practitioner who thrives in high volume environments and brings sound judgement and empathy to sensitive situations.

This role would suit a seasoned ER practitioner, or a law graduate with 1-2 years experience in a law firm looking to transition into HR, or a Generalist HR professional with a minimum of 5 years exposure to employee relations and experience managing high-volume, complex cases in a company with a large and dispersed workforce.

You’ll bring:

  • Commercial awareness
  • Experience conducting workplace investigations and managing high‑risk matters end to end
  • Worked in high volume environments with a large dispersed frontline workforce
  • Strong documentation and attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate complex issues clearly and practically
  • The ability to think outside of the square and take initiative to solve business problems
