The Employee Relations Manager partners with other members of the HR team who support employees and managers to foster a respectful, constructive, and inclusive culture. Their focus is on community building, employee-level mediation, and effective conflict resolution. This position will facilitate training for managers and leaders and will provide mentorship and coaching to developing leaders. The Employee Relations Manager has a dotted line relationship with the Sr Manager of DEI. 

Job Functions 

  • Investigate HR complaints including protected class complaints by gathering data and performing interviews with necessary parties using trauma-informed processes; provide recommendations to the Sr HR Business Partner and Conflict Resolution Advisory Group regarding next steps.  
  • Coach employees to handle interpersonal conflicts with others; mediate minor conflicts between employees before they escalate to policy violations; refer to Sr HR Business Partner if conflict needs escalation.   
  • Optimize the database that houses the anonymous complaint line and investigation documentation to track patterns of data in conjunction with annual studio and pulse surveys to inform bespoke solutions for each department or team.   
  • Prepare regular update reports for the Conflict Resolution Advisory Group and senior leadership team.   
  • Work closely with HR, L&D (Learning & Development), and DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) departments to develop a “train the trainer” model where managers and leaders grow their interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.   
  • Manage the anonymous complaint line and any complaints that come under the HR and/or DEI inboxes.   
  • Train and mentor ERG and Outreach leaders to equip them with skills to work effectively and collaboratively with their constituents.   
  • Conduct stay interviews in each department on an ongoing basis to help identify and retain highly engaged employees.
  • Partner with the Benefits team on ADA accommodations during the interactive process when there are employee relations components.    

Qualifications 

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in HR, with a focus on employee relations. 
  • Experience in conflict resolution and mediation with cultural humility and cultural responsivity.    
  • Experience with restorative justice framework, peace studies, HR people and culture, and experience with trauma informed processes preferred.   
  • Experience collaborating across HR functions (i.e., L&D, DEI, Benefits, etc.).   
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion best practices.   
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
