Job Summary
Responsible for providing support and counsel to Memorial Hermann employees and managers on routine employee relations issues, including assisting with policy interpretation, the performance improvement process and related plans, investigations, terminations, as well as with employee and manager counseling relating to employee relations issues; supporting the Director of Employee Relations and Sr. Employee Relations Advisors in general administration regarding employee relations matters, developing policies, and providing ongoing support regarding trends and subsequent interventions and improvements.Job Description

Education: Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
Licenses/Certifications: (None)
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
- Three (3) years of related work experience
- Working knowledge of applicable state and federal employment and labor laws
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to maintain objectivity, establish credibility, and maintain relationships with business managers
Principal Accountabilities
- Ensures timely and accurate intake of employee relations related issues from managers (via phone); responds to requests for policy interpretation and initial queries.
- Provides guidance to management and employees on performance, conflict resolution, position elimination, HR policies and procedures, employment/labor laws, EEO, and terminations to promote a fair and equitable work environment in consultation with the Director of Employee Relations or Senior Employee Relations Advisors.
- Conducts investigations of employees for performance/corrective action matters, writes reports regarding the investigations, and makes recommendations for corrective actions, in consultation with the Director of Employee Relations or Senior Employee Relations Advisors.
- Provides primary support for the preparation and documentation for unemployment hearings; facilitates background check verifications, immigration paperwork, and subpoena process.
- Maintains accurate and timely documentation of corrective actions and investigations.
- Participates in employee relations programs, including, but not limited to, EEO, performance management, retention, and termination.
- Aggregates and analyzes employee relations data from multiple HR systems and resources; facilitates data quality, and interprets information in a clear, concise, and business-relevant manner.
- Coordinates and co-facilitates training related to employee relations topics including performance improvement process, supervisory skills, providing feedback, terminations, etc.
- Analyzes requests for accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
- Assists in internal audits of employee relations issues, and makes recommendations to resolve issues.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Researches best practices and develops Employee Relations related policies in coordination with Legal Counsel.
- Assists Director of Employee Relations in selecting vendors and technology related to the delivery of Employee Relations related services.
- Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
- Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
