As an Emissions and Compliance Analyst at BSM, you will be responsible for supporting the monitoring, analysis, reporting, and compliance management of vessel emissions and environmental performance. The role plays an important part in ensuring accurate regulatory submissions, supporting decarbonisation initiatives, and helping vessels and stakeholders comply with international and regional maritime environmental requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, validate, and analyse vessel emissions, fuel consumption, voyage, and operational performance data.

  • Support compliance with IMO DCS, EU MRV, EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS), FuelEU Maritime, CII, EEXI, and other applicable environmental regulations.

  • Prepare and maintain accurate emissions reports, regulatory submissions, supporting documentation, and audit trails.

  • Monitor vessel performance against emissions targets, operational benchmarks, carbon intensity indicators, and approved management plans.

  • Identify data quality issues, inconsistencies, and reporting gaps, and coordinate corrective actions with vessels, technical teams, operations, and other stakeholders.

  • Support the calculation, verification, and administration of emissions allowances, including EU ETS exposure and compliance requirements.

  • Assist with the preparation of annual emissions statements, management reports, dashboards, and performance analyses.

  • Track changes in maritime environmental legislation, regulatory guidance, and industry requirements, communicating relevant updates to internal stakeholders.

  • Work with shipboard and shore-based teams to improve data collection processes, reporting accuracy, and environmental performance.

  • Support energy-efficiency and decarbonisation initiatives, including the evaluation of fuel consumption trends, operational measures, and emissions reduction opportunities.

  • Liaise with flag administrations, classification societies, verifiers, authorities, consultants, and other external stakeholders as required.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of emissions management systems, procedures, controls, and reporting tools.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Marine Engineering, Maritime Studies, Data Analytics,

  • Experience in emissions reporting, environmental compliance, sustainability analysis, data analysis, or a related maritime role.

  • Knowledge of maritime environmental regulations, including IMO DCS, EU MRV, EU ETS, FuelEU Maritime, CII, or EEXI requirements.

  • Experience working with vessel performance, fuel consumption, voyage, or emissions data is desirable.

  • Experience with data reporting systems, environmental management platforms, or regulatory compliance tools is advantageous.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with excellent attention to detail.

  • Ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and translate them into practical processes.

  • Good understanding of maritime operations, vessel emissions, fuel consumption, and carbon accounting principles.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools; experience with Power BI or similar reporting platforms is an advantage.

  • Strong data management, reporting, and documentation skills.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and meet regulatory deadlines.

  • Proactive, structured, and solution-oriented approach.

  • Fluency in English and solid computer literacy.
