About the roleThis role is to act as a Legal Employment Counsel for the EMEA region within the global Employment Law Team. Reporting into a Senior Legal Employment Counsel, EMEA, you will provide legal support on a wide range of employment law topics, both individual and collective, in various jurisdictions across EMEA.
The Legal Employment Counsel, EMEA will have responsibility for the following activities:
Supporting with global employment law projects, including re-organisations and other cross border projects, as well as with the production and maintenance of template and precedent documents for use across Dyson’s business in EMEA;
Delivery of ethical and pragmatic employment law advice on a range of employment law and employee relations matters across the UK, mainland Europe, including (but not limited to) France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Turkey, Sweden and Spain, and Middle East;
Building engagement and strong relationships with the HR team, ER team, and business managers;
Assisting with implementation of strategic projects and tech solutions aimed at streamlining and improving the way employment law services are provided to Dyson’s global business;
Managing employment litigation and external counsel where appropriate, ensuring compliance with Dyson’s panel and cost management processes;
Conducting legal risk assessments and working with stakeholders across Dyson Legal and the business to implement innovative strategies to mitigate those risks;
Collaborating with other members of Dyson Legal in the provision of legal services to the business, including working with colleagues on multi-jurisdictional projects; and
Supporting the Senior Legal Employment Counsel, EMEA to maintain the template and precedent documents and deliver employment law training to HR and managers.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of employment law experience, prior in-house experience is strongly preferred.
Qualification in England & Wales or mainland Europe (incl. Turkey).
The ideal candidate will:
Have a good understanding of all aspects of employment law and an ability to apply that knowledge pragmatically in a commercial environment;
Have experience in working on employment law matters within the UK & EMEA, multijurisdictional experience is strongly preferred
Have an interest in designing and implementing new ways of delivering legal services (including the use, where appropriate, of legal tech);
Have good awareness of the role of the legal function in a global business;
Adaptability and a positive attitude that embraces change;
Have project management experience;
Have the confidence and gravitas to challenge decisions and actions when required; and
Be a skilled communicator (noting that English is the primary language used within Dyson), and with a proven record of being able to quickly build effective and trusted relationships with stakeholders at various levels of an organization. Other European languages will be considered an additional plus.
