Embedded Software & QA Engineer – e‑Bike Systems (80–100%)

To strengthen our e‑Bike Systems Engineering team in Cham, Switzerland, we are looking for an Embedded Software & QA Engineer to join us as soon as possible or by mutual agreement. In this role, you will contribute to the development and validation of next‑generation e‑bike systems, with a strong focus on Human‑Machine Interfaces (HMI), firmware quality, and robust system testing.
Role Overview

As part of the Systems Engineering team, you will play a key role in both developing embedded firmware and ensuring its reliability through systematic testing and quality engineering practices. Your work will cover the entire product lifecycle—from early prototyping through mass production support—balancing implementation tasks with verification, validation, CI automation, and root‑cause analysis.

How you'll make a difference

Software Development (≈50%)
• Contribute to the design and implementation of embedded HMI firmware for next‑generation e‑bike systems
• Develop and maintain communication protocols used across the broader system, including internal tools and rider applications
• Maintain and manage the main firmware repository in collaboration with internal development teams
• Create and maintain clear and comprehensive design and technical documentation

Quality Assurance & Testing (≈50%)
• Define, implement, and execute software verification and validation plans, covering unit, integration, regression, and functional testing
• Develop automated test scripts and frameworks (Python, hardware‑in‑the‑loop setups, CI pipelines) to increase test coverage and efficiency

Conduct bench‑level and system‑level validation, including HIL setups for communication protocols (CAN, BLE, ANT+, etc.)
• Use static analysis, continuous integration tools, and code quality metrics to enforce firmware quality standards
• Lead root cause analysis for issues identified in testing, production, and field reports, and drive long‑term corrective actions
• Collaborate closely with Systems, Hardware, App, and Quality teams to ensure robust end‑to‑end system behavior
• Maintain comprehensive test documentation, test reports, and traceability to requirements

What you'll need to win

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
• Proven experience writing and debugging embedded software (drivers, modules, applications)
• Hands‑on experience with software testing methodologies: unit, integration, regression, black‑box/white‑box testing
• Practical experience with Zephyr OS, Git, Make, CMake, C, and Python
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, static analysis tools, and automated test environments
• Knowledge of CAN bus, BLE, and ANT+ protocols is a strong advantage
• Experience with PCB analysis, HIL test setups, or embedded test frameworks is a plus
• Familiarity with Jira, SharePoint, and other collaboration tools
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, cross‑functional environment
• Excellent English skills, both written and spoken
