Partnering with the best

In this role, you will contribute to embedded software projects from design through release, working on SIL-certified protection systems in an agile development environment. Working with experienced engineers, you will own defined features or components, collaborate on technical decisions, verify defects, support release testing, and take on additional project assignments as needed.

As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Independently design and deliver complex software components, seeking guidance from senior engineers when addressing unfamiliar technologies or highly complex technical challenges.
  • Contribute to cross-functional development projects by implementing assigned features, participating in design reviews, and communicating progress, risks, and technical tradeoffs.
  • Responsible for specific aspects of assigned projects.
  • May provide bug verification, release testing or beta support. Could handle special projects, as assigned.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent technical training, with 2–5 years of relevant embedded software experience.
  • Experience developing embedded software for at least one processor architecture, such as x86, MIPS, or ARM. Experience with FPGA-based systems is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of embedded software fundamentals, including memory management, interrupts, concurrency, communications interfaces, and hardware-software integration.

Desired Characteristics:

You do not need experience in every area listed below. We are looking for strong embedded software fundamentals and welcome candidates who are ready to deepen their expertise in the technologies used by the team.

  • Professional experience developing and debugging embedded software in C or C++; experience with both languages is desirable.
  • Experience developing, testing, or debugging embedded applications on a real-time operating system, including time-critical or concurrent software.
  • Experience diagnosing embedded software issues using debuggers, logs, traces, and hardware-assisted tools in local or remote development environments.
  • Experience in developing software for RTOS and embedded applications
  • Experience with hardware interfacing
  • Some experience in device driver and BSP development is desirable.
  • Knowledge of one or more embedded processor or system-on-chip architectures, such as ARM, PowerPC, LEON, or OpenRISC, with the ability to learn additional platforms as project needs evolve.
  • Interest in emerging compute technologies, including general-purpose GPU computing and massively parallel processors.
