Embedded Software Developer - C and/or Rust

We are looking to strengthen our team with a­ skilled Embedded Software Developer based in our HQ in Lund, Sweden.

We are looking for a technically skilled and curious developer with solid Linux skills who is eager to continuously expand both their technical knowledge and network within the organization. The role will give you the opportunity to work at the intersection of a wide range of teams at Axis that are responsible for the powerful feature set in our devices, and the broad community of developers who want to innovate on that feature set.

What you’ll do here as a Software Developer?

• Be part of a 6-person dev team responsible for ACAP framework – the application management code within AXIS OS, our Linux-based firmware.
• Develop code for a critical part of AXIS OS in a way that is maintainable, efficient, and cybersecure.
• Follow best practices in software development regarding e.g. unit and function tests, code reviews, threat modeling, documentation.
• Interact with users of the framework, through e.g. 3rd line support questions or reported issues.
• Our main language today is C, but we have started an initiative to gradually migrate the code base to Rust.
• Tools and systems we use on a daily basis include git/Gerrit, Jenkins, Jira and Docker.

Who are we looking for?

• You have a great passion and curiosity for technology
• You take a user-centric perspective and think about how your code and product will impact the developers who depend on it
• You can be either an experienced developer or a recent grad with the right educational background looking for a role with opportunity to grow while being mentored by highly skilled senior colleagues

We'd love to hear that you have:

• Experience of software development of embedded systems, or Linux application development
• Knowledge of C, C++ and/or Rust
• Linux fluency

It's a bonus if you also have prior experience with:

• Axis products and software ecosystem
• Cyber security
• Continuous development in a large and dispersed code base
