The Demand Gen team is responsible for driving leads and activations at scale through a variety of high-impact strategies. We manage paid ads, email campaigns, social media, SEO-driven content, conversion rate optimization, and growth experiments designed to drive more revenue.
We’re now looking to add an Email Marketing Lead to our team to enhance our demand generation efforts through strategic, data-driven, and compelling email communications. This role is an integral part of our Demand Gen team, reporting directly to the Director of Demand Gen (Luke Piette), and will be responsible for planning, writing, and optimizing all email marketing efforts. The ideal candidate has deep experience in engaging a technical audience (developers), excels at storytelling, and brings a data-driven mindset to continually improve lifecycle and product-related email campaigns.
Responsibilities:
- Own and Optimize Email Lifecycle Campaigns: Build, maintain, and refine email flows, newsletters, product announcements, onboarding sequences, and nurture campaigns to drive activation, re-activation, and engagement.
- Hands-On Copywriting: Write all email copy, ensuring it resonates with a developer audience. Collaborate cross-functionally with content writers to highlight relevant case studies, blog posts, and tutorials.
- Data-Driven Experimentation: Analyze key metrics—open rates, click-through rates, product engagement, activations, re-activations, and MQLs—to identify trends and opportunities for ongoing optimization. Implement A/B tests and experiments to improve performance.
- Strategic Planning & Segmentation: Dedicate ~25% of your time to strategic planning, including audience segmentation, personalization strategies, and new campaign frameworks.
- Tool & Partner Collaboration: Work with our growth engineer for technical integrations and utilize our platforms (Customer.io for emails, Courier for in-app notifications) to deliver personalized messages. Engage with a contract designer when creative elements are needed.
- Compliance & Best Practices: Ensure all email communications adhere to deliverability best practices and industry regulations.
Requirements:
- Experience: 2+ years of dedicated email marketing experience, preferably in B2B SaaS or a technical product environment.
- Technical Audience Engagement: Proven ability to communicate effectively with developer audiences, turning technical concepts into compelling, concise messaging.
- Analytical Skills: Strong data-driven mindset with the ability to interpret metrics, draw insights, and act on them.
- Tool Proficiency: Familiarity with marketing automation platforms (e.g., Customer.io), notification platforms (e.g., Courier), and A/B testing methodologies.
- Storytelling & Brand Voice: Exceptional writing skills and an eye for consistent brand tone and narrative.
- Location: Must be based in San Francisco.
Preferred:
- Experience nurturing technical audiences through lifecycle marketing campaigns.
- Familiarity with B2B SaaS and/or developer tooling growth strategies and marketing best practices.
- Understanding of segmentation, personalization, and advanced email marketing techniques.
What You’ll Receive:
- The competitive base salary for this position ranges from $100,000 to $120,000. The final salary will be determined during the interview process, based on factors such as the candidate's experience, qualifications, and location.
