Email Engineer

What success looks like in this role:

This role leverages professional concepts in alignment with company objectives to solve highly complex challenges in innovative and effective ways. The position involves working on intricate issues where analysis of situations or data requires a deep evaluation of various factors. The individual in this role will use sound judgment, in collaboration with the Technical Lead when necessary, to select methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results within broadly defined practices and policies.

This position will work closely with the Digital Workplace – Messaging Lead to implement and deliver Messaging technologies, including on-premises deployment and migration to Exchange Online (EXO) from various platforms (e.g., Google Workspace).

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide guidance and support to team members while working directly with customers and vendors.

• Collaborate with the Messaging Lead, Unisys Technical Services Lead, and/or Service Delivery Manager in a customer-facing role.

• Regularly update stakeholders on day-to-day activities, ensuring transparency and effective communication.

• Offer recommendations for improvements and enhancements to Digital Workplace Collaboration technologies.

• Test new Digital Workplace Collaboration technologies in simulated environments prior to production implementation where appropriate.

• Optimize system performance through reconfiguration, maintenance, and upgrades.

• Plan, develop, test, provision, administer, and manage all email services and related systems.

• Manage and deliver both hardware and software upgrades for Digital Workplace Messaging technologies.

• Create and maintain documentation such as the Operations Handbook and manage the run and maintain phases of the Digital Workplace Messaging technologies.

• Conduct hardware capacity planning and provide recommendations to support the future direction of Digital Workplace Messaging technologies.

You will be successful in this role if you have:

• Key Qualifications:

• Expert-Level experience with Microsoft Exchange 2016/2019 and integrated technologies.

• Extensive hands-on experience managing complex Microsoft Exchange enterprise environments.

• Expertise in configuring and administering high availability environments for Exchange services.

• Proficiency with email hygiene solutions such as EXO Advanced Protection, Cisco IronPort, Proof-Point, McAfee, and MessageLabs.

• Strong experience with Enterprise Vault and other archiving technologies for Exchange.

• Solid understanding of ITIL frameworks and best practices.

• Deep knowledge of Microsoft’s Productivity Software, including MS Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive.

• Expertise in messaging technologies such as Exchange 2016, Exchange 2019, and Office 365 Exchange Online.

• High-level understanding of email hygiene technologies and SMTP relay systems.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders across departments.

• Adaptability to a dynamic technical environment and willingness to take direction.

• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for customer-facing interactions.

• Solid knowledge of PowerShell and SSL certificate installation/renewal processes.

• Ability to work under pressure with a sense of urgency and meet tight deadlines.
