We are seeking a talented Electronic Systems Product Specialist to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Cummins Grupo Industrial in San Luis Potosi, S.L.P.
Job Summary:
This product focused position tailors electronic and electrical systems for Cummins products. People in these positions will translate product requirements into hardware and software technical requirements that control the operation of Cummins’ products in a variety of customer applications. Additionally, there is responsibility to configure (tune), and complete comprehensive validation testing of the fully integrated hardware and software systems.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Investigate and resolve electronic application and systems issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
- Apply and improve processes for system specification, modeling and simulation, calibration, DVP&R, troubleshooting, and product lifecycle support.
- Support the diagnosis, repair, testing, and validation of electronic and mechatronic components for remanufacturing.
- Evaluate hardware, embedded software, controls, diagnostics, communication protocols, and controller interactions to support fault isolation and repair solutions.
- Collaborate with product development teams to integrate remanufacturing requirements into new product designs and develop sustainable recovery solutions.
- Apply cybersecurity knowledge to identify remanufacturing requirements and develop solutions for cybersecurity-protected electronic products.
- Collaborate with customers, engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and other stakeholders to support quality product decisions.
- Provide technical guidance and review the work of less-experienced engineers, developers, and testers.
- Lead projects and support the development and improvement of processes, systems, and electronics remanufacturing capabilities.
- Coordinate the work of technicians and temporary student employees and support knowledge transfer within the team.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Hardware - Familiar with design and function of electronic and mechatronic components on internal combustion engines as well as in electrified powertrains to include sensors, actuators, valves, electronic controllers, power electronics, electrically powered accessories, traction motors and batteries.
- Process - Familiarity with processes for diagnosis, repair and testing. In support of electronics remanufacturing.
- Software & Controls – Understand the software and electronic control architectures that enable smart devices. Ability to evaluate how embedded software, calibrations, diagnostics, communication protocols, and controller interactions influence fault isolation, repair methods, test development, and remanufacturing processes. Knowledge of software configuration management, product variants, controller provisioning, and service tool functionality. Capable of working with product development teams to incorporate remanufacturing requirements early in the design process and develop sustainable recovery solutions for software-enabled products throughout their lifecycle.
- Cyber security - Understand cyber security requirements as applied to Cummins products. Understand the implications and potential barriers to remanufacturing of these requirements. Engage new product teams as part of the design for reman process to secure the essential provisions and preparations necessary to enable remanufacturing of cyber security protected devices. Be able to develop remanufacturing solutions for products with cyber security protections.
- Leadership - Person to support definition and building of electronics remanufacturing, capability and infrastructure.
