Position: 01 Electrician Reports                                                                                                                                                                To: Electrical Manager 

Purpose 

The Electrician will install and maintain the electrical wiring, fixtures, and systems in buildings. The Electrician will also understand safety procedures involved with installation and are comfortable using hand tools. 

Essential Job Functions 

E Installs and repairs electrical wiring, systems and fixtures in buildings. 

E Installs conduits and pipes to house electrical wires and cables. 

E Ensures piping complies with electrical codes. 

E Installs circuit breakers and other electrical hardware and connects wiring to them. 

E Connects electrical systems to powerlines to provide electricity to the building.  

E Knowledge of HVAC industry and corresponding equipment. 

E Diagnose issues, perform maintenance and repairs as well as recommend best solutions for our customers.  

E Must be able to install electrical hardware such as junction boxes and circuit breaker units. 

E Tests electrical systems to determine whether repairs are needed. 

E Inspects electrical systems to determine whether repairs are needed. 

E Replaces conduit and wiring as needed. 

E Complies with all safety standards and regulations of the National Electrical Code. 

E Supervise and train others in the installation and repair of electrical components.

Work Hours 

This is a non-exempt position. Work hours to be determined based on the needs of the business. Overtime and weekends may be required to meet business needs. 

 

 

Competencies 

This position requires strong time management skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to maintain a high level of professionalism and customer service standards in stressful situations. This position requires the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written.  This position requires a self-starter with excellent problem-solving, analytical skills and mechanical aptitude. The position also requires the ability to read blueprints, extensive knowledge of electrical systems and wiring, the ability to use hand tools and power tools, proficiency in the use of test meters and diagnostic equipment.  

Education and Experience 

This position requires a minimum three (3) years of previous electrical experience and the completion of a formal apprenticeship. Requires a high school diploma and/or any equivalent of education and experience to meet the essential functions of the job. Must have a valid driver’s license and remain insurable under our company insurance policy.  

Work Environment 

Frequently works in outside weather conditions. May be exposed to uncomfortable temperatures and/or conditions. Occasionally exposed to hot, wet and/humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. Moderately loud noise level while in the field. Occasionally exposed to dark, confined workspaces such as attics or crawl spaces.  May be required to perform work from ladders and heights. 

Physical Demands 

Moderate to heavy working conditions. Ability to see color (discern color coded wiring). Frequently required to stand, talk and hear. Constantly required to use hand and fingers to feel, handle or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. Frequently required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and walk. Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Periods of prolonged standing may be required. 

Supervisory Responsibility 

No direct supervisory responsibility. All questionable matters are referred to Supervisor.   

Travel 

Regular travel should be expected between Black Lion Heating & Air Conditioning and job sites. Travel should be expected within any of the following counties: King, Snohomish, Pierce, and Island. Travel to be expected primarily during normal business hours.

Skills Required
