Are you an experienced engineering leader with an electrical background who enjoys developing people, driving performance and delivering business results?

We are looking for a manager who can lead a large electrical engineering team, influence stakeholders across the business and create an environment where safety, reliability and continuous improvement thrive. Strong electrical knowledge is important, but your ability to lead, develop and inspire people is what will make the difference.

As our Electrical Plant Engineering Manager, you'll have a key role in ensuring our manufacturing assets remain safe, reliable and capable of delivering world-class performance. You'll lead the electrical engineering function, working closely with manufacturing, projects and technical teams to improve reliability, reduce downtime and support future investment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering improvements in equipment reliability, availability and operational performance.
  • Developing and maintaining effective asset management and maintenance strategies.
  • Supporting major maintenance shutdowns and engineering improvement programmes.
  • Supporting capital investment projects, commissioning activities and new technology implementation.
  • Managing engineering budgets and ensuring compliance with statutory and company standards.
  • Developing future engineering capability through coaching, succession planning and apprentice development.
  • Ensuring effective daily Electrical resource management

What You Will Do

As Electrical Plant Engineering Manager and a member of the Senior Engineering Team, you will provide leadership to a team of around 40 engineers, supervisors, technicians and electricians.

You will create a high-performing culture focused on safety, accountability and continuous improvement, ensuring your team delivers against business, operational and engineering objectives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and developing a large engineering team through coaching, mentoring and performance management.
  • Creating a strong safety culture that supports our commitment to Zero Harm.
  • Setting engineering priorities and ensuring resources are deployed effectively.
  • Working with operational leaders to improve plant reliability, availability and performance.
  • Managing departmental budgets and delivering value from engineering expenditure.
  • Supporting major shutdowns, improvement programmes and capital investment projects.
  • Building engineering capability through succession planning, talent development and apprenticeship programmes.
  • Engaging with stakeholders across manufacturing, projects, technical and support functions to achieve business objectives.
  • Promote and embed a structured Root Cause Analysis culture across the Electrical Engineering function, ensuring significant plant delays, equipment failures and safety-critical events are investigated using recognised RCA methodologies (5 Why, Fishbone and Fault Tree Analysis). Monitor action completion, drive learning from failures and co-chair monthly reliability review meetings with the Mechanical Engineering Manager
  • Drive the adoption of Artificial Intelligence tools within the Electrical Engineering team to improve productivity, problem-solving, knowledge sharing, and engineering decision-making

What You Will Need

We are looking for an experienced people leader with an electrical engineering background and a track record of leading teams within a manufacturing, industrial or engineering environment.

You will be somebody who:

  • Enjoys developing people and building high-performing teams.
