Lead mechanical engineering for production-critical crane assets, develop and improve maintenance strategies, apply reliability techniques (RCM/FMEA/RCA), ensure compliance with LOLER/PUWER/TSUK, support major repairs and MoC, drive continuous improvement and asset reliability, and provide technical leadership to engineers and maintenance teams.

Provide electrical and automation engineering support for production-critical crane assets: analyse performance and failures, lead root-cause investigations, develop reliability and lifecycle improvement solutions, support maintenance and CAPEX projects, implement control system changes (PLCs, drives, instrumentation), ensure compliance and safe working practices, and collaborate with operations, maintenance and contractors to improve availability and reduce risk.

Plan and manage workshop work orders, cost estimates, procurement and lead-times for custom manufacture and refurbishment. Coordinate spares, labour and contractors, support continuous improvement, ensure quality and safety compliance, and liaise with schedulers and operations to optimise workshop flow.

Perform first-line electrical maintenance and repairs on production plant equipment. Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance, diagnose and fix faults to minimise downtime, support HSE standards, suggest process control improvements, and work 12-hour rotating shifts.

Lead delivery of automation and process control projects from concept through commissioning. Manage PLC/SCADA/instrumentation design, contractors, testing (FAT/SAT), installation, commissioning, safety studies (HAZOP/LOPA/SIL), vendor selection, and ensure compliance with IEC/BS EN and cybersecurity standards.

Maintain, inspect and renew private rail infrastructure across site. Perform permanent way maintenance, operate hand and power tools and plant (when authorised), conduct lookout/flagman duties, complete safety documentation, lead small teams, liaise with operational and engineering teams, and identify improvements to safety, reliability and performance.

Support the Section Engineer to coordinate engineering activities, implement standards, and drive preventative maintenance. Lead failure analysis, manage spares and contractors, oversee budgets, and perform electrical fault finding, PLC fault diagnosis/programming, and compliance with wiring and safety regulations to improve manufacturing performance.

Provide electrical project engineering support across capital expenditure, process improvements and plant upgrades from concept through handover. Duties include design, procurement, installation, commissioning, project governance (Prince2), risk assessments, HAZOP, standards compliance, stakeholder reporting and technical support to manufacturing and site services.

Lead and manage the Warwick R&D centre and portfolio: set strategy, deliver programmes, oversee operations, budgets and funding, ensure compliance, and build high-performing cross-functional teams to commercialise technology and drive continuous improvement.

Lead and manage site electrical engineering delivery at Trostre, ensuring safe, compliant, and reliable utilities and infrastructure. Drive continuous improvement, manage budgets and spares, deliver capital and SRE proposals, oversee training, lead Management of Change and COMAH activities, and coordinate electrical resource to support 24/7 manufacturing performance.

Lead a large electrical engineering team to ensure safe, reliable, high-performing manufacturing assets. Drive reliability improvements, asset management, maintenance strategies, major shutdown support, capital projects, budget management, RCA culture, AI tool adoption, and people development including apprenticeships and succession planning.
