The Opportunity:
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the design, development, and integration of advanced Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), with a strong emphasis on wiring harness architecture, power distribution, and RF subsystem integration. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys both detailed electrical design work and hands-on integration in a fast-paced prototyping environment. The position plays a critical role in ensuring that UAS platforms are electrically robust, well-documented, and ready for mission execution.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop aircraft-level wiring harness architectures including signal routing, shielding, grounding, and connector selection
- Generate detailed wiring diagrams, harness drawings, pinouts, and electrical schematics
- Develop and maintain technical documentation and configuration-controlled drawing packages
- Design and analyze UAS power systems including battery integration, regulation, distribution, and protection
- Integrate RF systems including command-and-control links, telemetry, video transmission systems, and antenna interfaces
- Perform system-level electrical integration within airframes and payload configurations
- Support fabrication teams by providing clear build documentation and resolving technical discrepancies
- Conduct troubleshooting and root cause analysis during lab integration and flight test events
- Support ground and flight test events as required
- Design of multilayer and controlled impedance PCBs
- Experience with radio communication systems, antenna specification, and electromagnetic interference mitigation, programming for small embedded processors
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Experience designing wiring harnesses and generating associated documentation
- Experience with power electronics and low-voltage distribution systems
- Experience integrating RF or communication systems
- Strong schematic development skills
- Ability to work in a hands-on prototyping and integration environment
- Knowledge or experience with analog or digital RF circuits.
- Able to design, fabricate, and perform PCB assembly of surface mount and through-hole components, modify, and assemble mechanical enclosures
- Experience integrating RF or communication systems
Desired:
- Experience supporting UAS, aerospace, or airborne platforms
- Familiarity with EMI/EMC best practices for airborne systems
- Experience with configuration management and revision control processes
- Experience working closely with technicians or fabrication teams
