In this multifaceted and exciting role, you will act as a key interface between the Engineering and Experimental Physics teams, translating complex requirements into robust electrical solutions. You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of engineers to design, build and validate high quality experimental setups involving advanced electromechanical systems. Your work will have a direct impact on the success of experimental campaigns, ensuring safe, reliable and properly structured electrical systems in a demanding, high voltage environment. By applying engineering best practices and standards, you will enable advanced research while maintaining the highest levels of safety and technical excellence.
Your responsibilities- Design and document electrical systems in EPLAN Electric P8 and EPLAN Cable Pro D, including schematics, terminal diagrams, macros and cable lists
- Design, build and wire control cabinets, enclosures and PDUs for low voltage and high voltage applications
- Define and apply proper cable routing, shielding, labeling and assembly practices
- Select and integrate relays, RCDs/RCBs, contactors, circuit breakers and other protective devices
- Perform electrical risk assessments and define mitigation measures for cabinets and systems
- Act as Verantwortliche Elektrofachkraft (VEFK) for systems within your area of responsibility
- Support commissioning, testing and troubleshooting internally and during onsite experimental campaigns
- Participate in design reviews covering cabinet layout, protection concepts, grounding and EMC
- Maintain structured documentation including schematics, BOMs and compliance records
- Plan project timelines, track budgets and coordinate procurement for cabinet and enclosure builds
- Keep projects organized, tracking progress, open tasks and priorities across parallel builds
- Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or a Meister/Techniker qualification with equivalent experience
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experienceStrong hands on experience with EPLAN Electric P8 and EPLAN Cable Pro D
- Experience building, wiring and commissioning cabinets, enclosures and PDUs for low voltage and high voltage applications
- Solid understanding of cable routing, crimping, shielding and professional assembly techniques
- Ability to read, interpret and create electrical drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams
- Good knowledge of relays, RCDs/RCBs, contactors, circuit breakers and safety devices
- Experience performing electrical risk assessments for electrical systems
- Knowledge of German and European standards such as DIN VDE 0100, DIN EN 61439, DIN EN 60204-1 and DGUV Vorschrift 3
- Qualified as VEFK, or eligible and willing to obtain this qualification
- Good organizational and planning skills, including budget tracking and coordinating multiple projects
- Good communication skills in English, willingness to travel for onsite campaigns
- German language skills
- Knowledge of PCB design standards such as IEC 61191-1
- Experience with machining, 3D printing or laser cutting

Skills Required
- Completed vocational training as Electrical Technician or a degree in Electrical Engineering
