Job Summary 

Vertiv's Anderson, SC facility designs and manufactures low voltage switchgear that powers mission-critical infrastructure, including data centers, for some of the most prestigious clients in the world. We are currently looking to add an Electrical Design Engineer to our team here in Anderson, SC. We look for people who are 100% team-oriented, self-driven, and technically proficient, and we are building a collaborative, detail-oriented team that produces quality products for our clients. 

This opportunity is for someone who wants to work within a technically driven, supportive team environment with minimal functional management, helping build on Vertiv's global reputation for engineering excellence by establishing that same standard at our Anderson, SC facility. Responsibilities 

Reporting to the Electrical Design Manager, this position presents an excellent opportunity for a qualified professional pertaining to design and controls engineering functions of power distribution equipment. 

  • Design and develop electrical systems, components, and products for power distribution equipment. 

  • Review initial project documentation and electrical requirements at the start of each project. 

  • Support product development from concept through production under the guidance of senior engineers. 

  • Prepare electrical schematics, single line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and communications network drawings in compliance with customer drawing packages and specifications. 

  • Perform circuit analysis and calculations to support design decisions. 

  • Prepare and finalize electrical bills of materials. 

  • Participate in internal design reviews and cross-functional reviews with the mechanical design team. 

  • Collaborate with mechanical, automation, and manufacturing engineering teams along with project management to resolve issues and meet project timelines across multiple concurrent projects. 

  • Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes and industry standards, including NEC, UL, ANSI, and IEEE requirements, throughout the design process. 

  • Assist manufacturing and assembly teams in resolving design-related issues during production. 

  • Develop control wiring for automatic transfer controllers, breaker interlocking, PLC equipment, and power quality monitoring systems. 

  • Support testing procedures for electrical systems, including test scripts to validate control scheme functionality. 

  • Write technical documentation and specifications, including project closeout documentation and as-built records, at project completion. 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's Degree, 1-3 years of experience. 

  • Strong problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to apply them to electrical control design. 

  • Working knowledge of NEC, UL, ANSI, and IEEE standards to ensure products are designed in compliance with all relevant regulations. 

  • Capable of taking ownership of assigned projects while collaborating effectively within a team environment. 

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and maintain the latest revisions of design drawings. 

  • Adaptability to respond to a fast-moving business environment. 

  • Accuracy and attention to detail. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

  • Proactive, flexible approach to working within a team environment. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Working knowledge of low voltage switchgear and manufacturing processes. 

  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD Electrical, SEE Electrical, EPLAN, or similar platforms. 

  • Familiarity with Underwriters Laboratories (UL) standards, including but not limited to UL 1558, UL 891, UL 489, and UL 1066.
