Electrical Design Engineer

Job Summary

Vertiv is currently looking to add an Electrical Design Engineer to our Anderson, SC team. We look for people who are 100% team-oriented, self-driven, and technically proficient. This opportunity is for someone who wants to work within a technically driven team with minimal functional management and help build on Vertiv's global reputation for engineering excellence by establishing that same standard at our Anderson, SC facility. This means that everyone is expected to be self-driven. Our leadership team will guide you on projects which suit your strengths, but a willingness to get the job done and overcome obstacles is a must. This position is best suited to someone who enjoys a variety of new challenges, a hands-on environment, and will accept the challenges and reap the benefits of working for a facility with a blank canvas. You will have an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to electrical design pertaining to Electrical Switchgear.

Electrical Design Manager

Responsibilities

• Review initial project documentation and electrical requirements at the start of each project.
• Prepare detailed electrical schematics, single line diagrams, and communications network drawings in compliance with customer drawing packages, and specifications. 
• Prepare and finalize electrical bills of materials.
• Participate in internal design reviews and cross-functional reviews with the mechanical design team to confirm design accuracy and integration prior to customer submission.
• Collaborate with mechanical and automation design teams and project management to identify and resolve issues, ensure successful project completion, and meet project timelines and goals across multiple concurrent projects.
• Support the release of finalized designs for manufacturing and assist with bill of materials handoff to production.
• Provide technical support to manufacturing and assembly teams to resolve design-related issues and ensure a smooth production process.
• Contribute to the development of new practices and processes within the design team and assist in their implementation to improve department performance.
• Develop control wiring for automatic transfer controllers, breaker interlocking, PLC equipment, and power quality monitoring systems.
• Create test scripts to validate the functionality of control schemes.
• Contribute to project closeout documentation, including as-built records, at project completion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of experience  
• Aptitude for problem solving and ability to apply this to electrical control design.
• Working knowledge of NEC and UL standards to ensure products are designed in compliance with all relevant regulations.
• Capable of taking individual ownership of projects and working effectively within a team environment.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and maintain the latest revisions of design drawings.
• Adaptability to respond to a fast-moving business environment.
• Accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proactive, flexible approach to working within a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3 years of experience in designing electrical and control wiring packages.
• Knowledge of low voltage switchgear and a basic understanding of manufacturing processes.
• Proven experience in a related position or comparable role involving exposure to design software such as AutoCAD and SEE Electrical.
• Proven understanding of Underwriters Laboratories (UL) standards, including but not limited to UL 1558, UL 891, UL 489, and UL 1066.
