About the job
Based in Monza, Italy, you will join the Automation Development team, responsible for the development of advanced control systems and IoT solutions for Alfa Laval core products and customized projects worldwide.
As an Electrical Panel Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of low-voltage power and control panels, with a strong focus on control cabinets and automation systems. You will work in an Agile, international environment, supporting the full product lifecycle from concept and design to validation and release.
Key responsibilities
- Review and analyze customer automation and electrical inputs
- Understand project specifications and support the estimation of design hours and budget
- Perform low-voltage (LV) electrical design calculations
- Design control and command panels, including component selection and layout
- Participate in quality assurance activities and peer reviews
- Plan and coordinate electrical design activities in collaboration with project stakeholders
- Collaborate across sites within the Device Competence Space and global teams
Required skills and qualifications
- Degree in Electrical Engineering / Instrumentation Engineering, or Technical Diploma in Electrical Engineering
- Proven experience with electrical design tools such as EPLAN P8 or equivalent (EPLAN is strongly preferred)
- Solid knowledge of EN 60204-1, UL 508A, and EN 60079-1 standards
- Experience in low-voltage electrical design, including:
- protection coordination
- control panel design
- thermal verification
- component sizing and selection
- Knowledge of ATEX and EN 60079-1 for electrical design in hazardous areas (Zone 1 and Zone 2)
- Experience in producing electrical schematics and drawings, supported by hands-on practical experience, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of real-world design challenges
- Experience in project work and product development; project management experience is a plus
- Experience with marine approvals, verification processes, and related documentation (considered a plus)
- Experience with prototype development or MVP-oriented design approaches (considered a plus)
- Fluent written and spoken English
