Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of the laboratory, equipment, and processes to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Provide guidance and support to laboratory personnel on EHS issues, including hazardous and biological waste, and proper waste segregation.
- Coordinate the safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials, including chemicals and biological agents, following regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to laboratory safety activities, including chemical inventories, safety data sheets (SDS), and waste disposal records.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall goals of the EHS department and the organization.

- The ability to train on various safety-related topics, machine guarding, LOTO, Fall Protection, RCRA, HAZCOM, BBP, Contractor Management, Emergency Response, etc.

Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma with 2+ years of experience or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience in hazardous and biological material handling
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to hazardous materials management and spill response, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively as a part of a team and interact with emergency responders, regulatory agencies, and facility personnel.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks.
- Maintain active weekly participation in GRAIL’s EHS Management System.
- Support site Emergency Response Team activities.
- Participate in evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
- First Aid CPR & AED
- 40 Hour HAZWOPER certification
- 30 Hr General Industry OSHA Certification
- DOT hazardous materials shipping
- RCRA Hazardous Waste Management
- 1+ years of Google Workspace

Physical Demands & Working Environment:
- Hours and days may vary depending on operational needs.
- Standing or sitting for long periods of time may be necessary.
- May be exposed to hazardous materials, blood specimens and instruments with moving parts, heating or freezing elements, and high speed centrifugation.
- Some lifting (up to 50 pounds) may be necessary
- Work may require exposure to the outside elements
- Use and operations of ergonomic lifting devices
- Travel: 5% of the year

GRAIL has a variety of work types depending on the roles. Some are onsite like a lab role, others are hybrid and still others are remote. Hybrid is typically Tuesday and Thursday but leaders may be flexible depending on the role.
