Job Summary / About the RoleChurch & Dwight is seeking a Corporate Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability Specialist. This position will be located in Ewing, New Jersey, on a hybrid basis.
Work Model: This is a hybrid role, requiring in-person attendance at our Ewing, New Jersey office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with remote work options on Mondays and Fridays.
The Corporate Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability Specialist will support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of environmental, health, safety, and sustainability systems across company operations. This role will partner with site leadership and environmental, health, and safety personnel to implement corporate standards, monitor performance, support incident investigations, conduct audits, provide technical guidance, and promote consistent practices across locations.
The position will also serve as the primary environmental, health, and safety resource for the Ewing location, coordinating site-level regulatory compliance, risk-reduction initiatives, training, inspections, industrial hygiene activities, environmental programs, and corrective actions. Under the direction of the Global Manager, Safety Operations, this role will help integrate environmental stewardship, employee safety, and health protection into operational decision-making and continuous improvement.
Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Ewing Site Ownership: Develop, implement, and execute site safety, environmental, and health initiatives, strategies, programs, and procedures through hands-on counsel, assessment, supervision, and implementation.
- Performance and Program Coordination: Partner with sites to manage environmental, health, safety, and sustainability performance metrics and support consistent execution of corporate programs.
- Incident Investigation: Provide expertise and participate in global incident investigations and root-cause analysis processes.
- Audits and Corrective Actions: Participate in audits and inspections; update and monitor systems; implement and track action plans; benchmark performance; and support audits at other sites.
- Program Optimization and Training: Drive implementation of best-in-class safety programs, systems, and processes, including training and coaching on environmental, health, and safety measures, hazard recognition, precautions, and compliance requirements.
- Technology and Administration: Administer and oversee Environmental and Safety Operations accounts payable and purchase order processes, and support specialized systems such as Sphera, Velocity, and ISN.
- Technical Expertise: Provide functional and technical training, coaching, and guidance in areas including Permit to Work, machine safety, and environmental, health, and safety standards.
- Team Support: Actively participate on assigned teams and provide backup support to other specialists, generalists, and managers as needed.
- Data and Continuous Improvement: Analyze safety conditions, behaviors, and performance data; recommend changes that improve compliance and advance site performance toward world-class levels.
- Vendor Management: Identify strategic partnerships and maintain contracts with key safety vendors, including providers of personal protective equipment, industrial hygiene sampling, and hazardous-waste services.
- Environmental and Sustainability Programs: Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of corporate sustainability initiatives, objectives, and performance metrics across manufacturing operations through hands-on leadership, coaching, and teamwork.
- Compliance and Regulatory Leadership: Promote excellence in environmental, health, and safety compliance and work practices, maintain a working knowledge of relevant rules and regulations, and assess their impact on company sites.
- Travel and Availability: Maintain flexibility to support a 24/7 operating environment and travel up to 25% of the time, domestically and occasionally internationally.
Education and Experience RequirementsRequired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, safety, industrial hygiene, or a related discipline.
- 3+ years of experience coordinating safety and health or environmental activities in a manufacturing environment, including industrial hygiene work.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, collaborate across multiple sites, and lead and coach teams through system implementation and continuous improvement.
- In-depth knowledge of safety, environmental, and health systems and compliance requirements, including chemical management, confined space, radiation, lasers, hearing conservation, industrial hygiene, Permit to Work, machine safety and lockout/tagout, work at heights, behavior-based safety, personal protective equipment, stormwater, wastewater, spill response, and hazardous waste.
- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and communicate effectively with audiences that have varied backgrounds and levels of technical understanding.
- Strong training and presentation skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, domestically and occasionally internationally.

Compensation and Benefits
The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $71,000– $101,000. This position is also eligible for a bonus.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge and skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal pay parity. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
