The EHS Specialist works to plan, manage, and implement Azurity’s environmental health and safety program to ensure a safe and incident-free work environment. They are responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable environmental safety regulations and reporting requirements. The position will additionally focus on maintaining all required regulatory permits and waste disposal processes. The EHS specialist position would also respond to emergency situations when such arise and will support manufacturing and maintenance operations to foster a zero-tolerance culture.
Responsibilities:
- The EHS Specialist is responsible for maintaining compliance and implementation of the EHS management system for manufacturing and maintenance operations including supporting Lab operations and waste disposal.
- Monitor and inspect the facility and its safety equipment to ensure compliance.
- Evaluates EHS conditions, assess risks and support the development of appropriate corrective action plans.
- Ensure compliance with all permits and reporting requirements to regulatory agencies.
- Participate in incident investigations, ensuring root cause and countermeasure identification is completed to eliminate future injury. Review and analyze accident data to identify trends or areas requiring additional focus.
- Suggest the use of safety equipment and personal protective equipment when required.
- Ensure that all EHS related documentation and records are properly maintained and updated.
- Conduct EHS reviews for new product development, facility modification, product manufacturing modifications and new equipment/machinery installations.
- Develop and deliver EHS training programs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in an Environmental or Safety science field, related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years’ experience in assessing and facilitating EHS activities supporting a Site/Commercial/Service organization.
- Experience with permit management, wastewater compliance, chemical management.
- Experience in local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulatory compliance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good technical management skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple activities and daily responsibilities.
- Ability to make decisions and work independently and as part of a team.
- Good verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
