Job Summary

EHS Engineer

Role overview: Ensure that the operation fully complies with local legislation and corporate policies in regards with EH&S policies and procedures, providing a workplace that is safe and protective of human health and the environment. Jobholder is responsible for ensuring successful strategic and operational implementation of safety standards across the local company. Key responsibilities include: manage all aspects of HSE to prevent injuries, occupational illnesses and environmental incidents; manage HSE management system and assure a sustainable safety culture in compliance with Imerys Standards and Italian legislation.

Type of contract: Permanent

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Promote and develop the site safety culture by conducting safety tool box meetings, training, identifying at risk behavior, conditions,, leading Group take 5 and reinforcing behavior based safety.

  • Achieve EHS objectives of the Plant by practicing safe working methodology and strengthening the safety policies, guidelines, and procedures as set out by the Plant and Imerys. 

  • Ensure compliance with Imerys protocols and local regulation.

  • Provide daily guidance and direction in EHS programs at the employee, and site team to ensure a common and effective approach.

  • Manage accident incidents with the corresponding investigation, root cause analysis and corrective actions.

  • Ensure that contractors and external personnel working on the Plant are in compliance with Imerys policies and safety requirements.

  • Conduct VFL, Serious seven, workplace inspections regularly, task risk assessment defining improving action plans and closing the loop on the gaps identified.

  • Manage all required EHS KPI reporting timely

  • Coordinate and perform EHS training programs.

  • Ensures inspections by regulatory agencies are coordinated and deficiencies minimized and corrected.

  • Maintain all logs and documentation associated with permits and regulatory requirements.

  • Maintain working relationships with local and national Regulatory Agencies.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education level: master degree ( Engineer or “other” similar)

  • Experience: Ideally not mandatory +2 years experience in HSE function

  • Certifications: Ideally not mandatory certification for “Responsabile del Servizio di Prevenzione e Protezione” (RSPP) 

Skills & Person Specification

  • Specific skills/qualifications: knowledge in HSE Management Systems. Sustainable Development. Legal compliance and ethics. Good level and confidence with the use of IT tools.

  • Language: Fluent in English. Italian mother tongue. 

  • Personal characteristics: Good communication skills. Proactive. Self-driven and self-motivated.
