To educate students through an integrated approach to learning and living based on awareness of culture and the Catholic faith.

 

  1. Major Duties and Responsibilities (Accountabilities) Include:
    1. Collaborates with the principal in implementing the mission of the Parish and School. This is ac-complished by participating in planning, implementation, and evaluation of the school’s goals and objectives. The teacher is a member of the school staff and is a professional resource in designed educational specialties. Participates in regional and deanery collaborative efforts as approved and as appropriate.
    2. Assures the planning and implementation of instructional programs and activities that further the Catholic philosophy and goals of the school. The teacher insures that the classroom atmosphere fosters knowledge of the Catholic faith, development of appropriate ethical choices, faith development and Christian leadership, and integrates Gospel values in daily classroom activity.
    3. Assures the selections and organization of curriculum and instruction materials. The teacher adapts methods and materials to accommodate learner difference and plans for both long term, and short term instructional goals.
    4. Assures the development of a process for learning. This is accomplished by presenting a clear description of the learning task and its content. The teacher instructs students, monitors student understanding and reteaches when necessary. The teacher gives assignments that are appropriate, reasonable and academically sound. The teacher established and maintains student involvement in the learning task.
    5. Assures the evaluations of students’ progress. This is accomplished through the interpretation of test data and the monitoring of classroom performance. The teacher utilizes this information to improve the quality of instruction. The teacher maintains accurate and current individual records of the student’s academic progress and shares this information with both the student and his/her parents.
    6. Assures the creation and maintenance of a classroom environment that is conductive of learning. The teacher establishes and maintains appropriate student behavior and develops strategies to resolve conflict effectively.
    7. Assures effective oral and written communication with school administrator, fellow faculty members, parents and students. The teacher provides frequent and effective feedback concerning attainment of learning goals to students, parents and principal.
    8. Maintains a current level of knowledge and skills required to effectively serve as teacher. In-cumbent accomplishes this by keeping abreast of current issues, trends and concerns through attendance of seminars or classes, in-service training, workshops of subscriptions and/or through membership in local, state or national professional organizations, as approved and as appropriate.

• Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate (or ability to obtain)

• Knowledge of Common Core State Standards and instructional best practices

• Understanding of elementary student development, particularly at the 3rd grade level

• Strong classroom management and organizational skills

• Effective communication and collaboration skills

• Ability to use assessment data to inform instruction

• Proficiency with educational technology tools

 

    1. Preferred:

• Practicing Catholic committed to the mission of Catholic education

• Experience in Catholic or faith-based education

• Experience in bilingual or dual-language immersion settings

• Experience with differentiated instruction and project-based learning

• Experience or awareness of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)

 

    1. Archdiocesan Expectations

• Model Christian behavior and maintain professional conduct

• Participate in required Safe Environment training and compliance

• Integrate Catholic teachings into curriculum and classroom life


Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
