About the opportunity 

The Library, in collaboration with the Education and Students Portfolio, is leading an exciting project to create scalable generative AI literacy learning resources for first-year students. Working with Library teams and project stakeholders, the Education Design Officer will design and build student-focused online learning content, learning objects and digital assets that can be embedded in curriculum and used for self-directed student learning. The role will apply educational design principles, user experience approaches and learning technologies to create clear, accessible and engaging resources that support students to use generative AI critically, ethically and effectively in a higher education context. 

Your key responsibilities will be to: 

  • design and develop student-focused online learning content, learning objects and digital assets 
  • apply educational design principles, user experience approaches and learning technologies to create clear, accessible and engaging resources 
  • collaborate with Library teams and project stakeholders to develop online learning content that meets project requirements and supports student learning 
  • support user testing of learning objects and online learning content with students and relevant stakeholders 
  • refine learning objects in response to feedback, user experience considerations and project requirements 
  • prepare clear guidance on how digital learning content can be used, adapted and maintained beyond the life of the project 

About you 

  • experience developing pedagogically sound, student-focused learning experiences using educational design and user experience approaches 
  • demonstrated ability to use learning technologies and tools to create engaging, accessible and effective online learning content 
  • demonstrated knowledge of Universal Design for Learning and cultural competence to design inclusive, accessible and culturally responsive learning experiences for diverse student populations 
  • experience with Learning Management Systems, such as Canvas, with knowledge of HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript preferred 
  • tertiary qualifications in education, information technology, user experience design, information and knowledge management or similar; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and training
