What You'll Be Doing

Job Scope: The Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Discipline Lead is responsible for technical leadership and full discipline delivery for industrial projects. This role is responsible for performing advanced design work serving as a technical specialist for a complex design assignments. The ideal candidate is an experienced industrial E&I professional who combines hands‑on technical expertise with strong project controls and client communication skills. This work will be performed under minimal supervision in our Beaumont office.

Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

Leadership & Project Controls

  • Plan, organize, and communicate work execution strategies to project teams, leadership, and clients.

  • Delegate work based on skill and experience, providing ongoing guidance to ensure quality and efficiency.

  • Track and manage discipline budgets, schedules, staffing plans, and deliverables using established project controls.

  • Develop and validate professional services and construction estimates; monitor changes throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Identify scope changes and initiate change notices impacting schedule, cost, or deliverables.

Technical Design & Engineering

  • Establish electrical and instrumentation design criteria in accordance with client requirements, project scope, and applicable codes and standards.

  • Produce estimate‑level designs, material take‑offs, conceptual layouts, and cost studies.

  • Prepare and review detailed design calculations, sketches, and specifications.

  • Design systems with a focus on constructability, cost efficiency, and long‑term reliability.

  • Develop and review medium‑voltage (up to 15kV) power systems, including single‑line diagrams and protection requirements.

  • Ensure permitting requirements are identified and communicated to the project team.

Quality, Deliverables & Coordination

  • Review, check, and approve all electrical and instrumentation deliverables.

  • Verify calculations for accuracy, NEC compliance, and engineering best practices.

  • Coordinate closely with other engineering disciplines to resolve design and constructability issues.

  • Review vendor drawings and integrate electrical/instrumentation requirements.

  • Prepare bid packages and technical documentation for procurement.

People Development & Worksharing

  • Mentor teammates.

  • Identify and manage interoffice worksharing opportunities to optimize resources and execution.

  • Promote strong communication and collaboration.

  • Support proposal development and business development efforts.

Ideal Background

Education: High school diploma.

Experience: Requires 15 or more years of relevant industrial experience in electrical and instrumentation.

  • Familiarity with the current version of the National Electrical Code (NEC).

  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Virtual team skills and cross divisional relationships are highly developed and able to provide interoffice execution support with no supervision.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
  • 15 or more years of relevant industrial electrical and instrumentation experience
  • Familiarity with the current version of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Experience designing medium-voltage power systems (up to 15kV), single-line diagrams, and protection requirements
  • Proven project controls experience: scope, schedule, budget tracking, estimating, and change management
  • Leadership and mentoring experience with engineers and designers, including interoffice worksharing
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to support clients
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision from the Beaumont office (on-site)
  • Authorization to work in the United States
