About the role

The DVD and Blu-ray Quality Control Technician is responsible for the review and approval of all German language scheduled DVD and Blu-ray products authored by Crunchyroll and/or their third-party vendors. This includes ensuring all DVD and Blu-ray master qc and check-discs meet the required standards and schedule defined by the DVD & Blu-ray Department. We are seeking a highly proficient German language speaker to review and approve German language audio dubbing and subtitles for language accuracy, audio quality, storyline content with regards to the language, and general quality control. 

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

  • Testing and checking DVD & Blu-ray elements including audio, video, subtitles, credits and programming in German
  • Document issues with precise attention to detail and excellent written and oral communication skills in English
  • Communicate with several departments to achieve resolution: DVD & Blu-ray authors, producers, audio, editing, quality control, compression subtitles, translation
  • Responsible for identifying errors and verifying correct performance based on existing specifications
  • Develop a working knowledge of a variety of job responsibilities on a case-by-case basis

In the role of DVD/Blu-ray Quality Control Technician, you will report to the Supervisor, Collectibles Quality Control.

This is a remote opportunity, however we would ideally like someone near our Dallas office.

About You

  • You have a BA/BS degree
  • You are fluent in German and English languages, both written and spoken
  • You have 2+ years of Quality Control experience, we will also consider experience in Media, Film, or other technical experience. 
  • You have an advanced understanding of DVD & Blu-ray menu navigation and programming
  • You have knowledge about subtitles and closed captions
  • You have solid proofreading skills
  • You have knowledge of common video issues such as banding, blocking, and compression-related distortion
  • You have knowledge of common audio issues such as loudness, dropouts, pops, clicks, and sync to video
  • You have knowledge of common spelling and grammar issues related to credits, titles, and subtitles
  • You have a high degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office Word and excel
  • You have knowledge of digital streaming and online media
  • You have previous video production or post-production experience
  • You have knowledge of and a passion for entertainment, animation, and pop culture
