Job Description

The Operations Manager is responsible for supporting the General Manager in the day-to day management of operations while driving a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement. This role will oversee operational performance, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), lead quality management initiatives, and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, productivity, and customer satisfaction.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong analytical capabilities, quality management experience, and a proven ability to improve operational performance through data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Support the General Manager in achieving daily, weekly, and monthly operational objectives.
  • Ensure the efficient execution of operational activities across all departments.
  • Provide leadership and direction to supervisors and team members to meet productivity, quality, and safety targets.
  • Identify and resolve operational issues in a timely manner.
  • Assist in workforce planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous learning.
  • Conduct performance reviews and support employee development plans.
  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and succession planning activities.

Quality Management

  • Lead and maintain quality management systems and standards.
  • Monitor product and service quality to ensure compliance with company and customer requirements.
  • Investigate quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing defects, waste, and rework.

Health & Safety Leadership

  • Promote and maintain a strong safety-first culture throughout the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with all workplace health and safety regulations.
  • Lead safety initiatives, inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
  • Ensure employees receive appropriate safety training and follow established procedures.

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve operational processes, efficiency, and performance.
  • Standardize processes and implement best practices.
  • Reduce operational waste, downtime, and non-value-added activities.
  • Support change management initiatives and employee engagement efforts.

Qualifications

Education

  • Degree in Operations Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and operational leadership experience will be considered.

Experience

  • 3+ years of progressive operations leadership experience.
  • Proven experience in Quality Management Systems and continuous improvement programs.
  • Experience supporting senior leadership and driving operational performance.
  • Experience leading workplace health and safety initiatives.

Preferred Certifications (considered an asset)

  • Lean Manufacturing Certification
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
  • ISO 9001 Quality Management experience
  • Health and Safety certification

Skills Required

  • Degree in Operations Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field, or equivalent education and operational leadership experience
  • At least 3 years of progressive operations leadership experience
