Job Description

The Junior Safety & Quality Supervisor is responsible for supporting the organization's safety, quality, and operational excellence programs. Working closely with the Director of Safety and Operations Manager, this role assists in developing, implementing, and monitoring safety and quality initiatives that ensure regulatory compliance, reduce workplace risk, improve operational performance, and promote a culture of continuous improvement. The successful candidate will provide daily support to field and operational teams, conduct inspections and audits, participate in investigations, and help ensure company policies and procedures are consistently followed.

Safety Management

  • Support the Director of Safety in implementing and maintaining the company's health and safety management system.
  • Conduct routine workplace inspections, site audits, and hazard assessments.
  • Monitor compliance with provincial and federal safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices
  • Participate in incident, accident, and near-miss investigations and assist in determining root causes and corrective actions.
  • Track and follow up on corrective action plans to ensure timely completion.
  • Deliver or coordinate employee safety orientations, toolbox talks, and safety training sessions.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through employee engagement and coaching.

Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement

  • Support quality assurance programs and operational standards across all departments.
  • Perform quality inspections and audits to verify adherence to customer and company requirements.
  • Monitor quality metrics and assist in identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  • Participate in investigations of quality deficiencies, customer complaints, and non conformances.
  • Support the implementation of corrective and preventive action programs.
  • Assist with the maintenance of quality documentation, procedures, and records.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to improve service delivery, efficiency, and consistency.

Operational Support

  • Assist with workforce supervision to ensure compliance with company procedures and performance expectations.
  • Support operational planning and resource coordination as required.
  • Participate in operational meetings and provide updates on safety and quality performance.
  • Conduct field observations and provide coaching to employees on safe work practices and quality standards. Assist in developing and monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate safety, training, inspection, and quality records.
  • Prepare reports, statistics, and presentations for management.
  • Assist in policy and procedure development and revisions.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Ensure documentation is maintained in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Education

  • Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Quality Management, Business Administration, Engineering Technology, or a related field is an asset.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Experience

  • 1-3 years of experience in safety, quality, operations, transportation, manufacturing, construction, or a related industry.
  • Experience conducting inspections, audits, or compliance activities is considered an asset.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience is an asset.

Certifications (Preferred)

  • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation or working toward certification.
  • ISO 9001 Internal Auditor Certification.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification.
  • WHMIS Certification.
  • Joint Health & Safety Committee Certification.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Understanding of occupational health and safety legislation and regulations.
  • Knowledge of quality management principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong observational and problem-solving skills. • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with employees and management.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to analyze data and prepare professional reports.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential and ability to influence positive workplace behaviors.

Additional Information

The Junior Safety & Quality Supervisor works in both office and field environments and is expected to spend significant time interacting with employees in operational areas. Regular daily inspections will be required.
