Dispatcher - CALEDON EAST, ONOverview:
At First Student, Dispatchers are a key part of our commitment to safety and customer service. The Dispatcher ensures on-time performance of routes, manages communications, and supports drivers and monitors.
Responsibilities:- Oversee all bus routes and scheduling
- Counsel and coach drivers and monitors
- Handle heavy phone and radio traffic
- Receive and report scheduling and driver complaints to the Operations Supervisor or Contract Manager
- Act as the primary communication liaison with contracted customers
- May manage charter reservations, billing, or driver payroll
- Provide solutions to drop-off and pick-up issues
- Perform back-up driver duties or clerical tasks as needed
- Complete special project assignments
- Assist in supervising day-to-day operations
- 3–5 years of experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic knowledge of radio dispatch equipment
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work under time constraints and meet deadlines
- Previous experience in terminal operations, dispatch, or as a driver
- Computer literacy
