Bilingual Dispatcher – Ottawa, ON (Star Top Rd)

Job Summary
First Student is seeking a reliable and organized Dispatcher to join our Ottawa team. The Dispatcher plays a key role in ensuring safe, efficient, and timely transportation services by coordinating driver assignments, managing route changes, and responding to operational needs.
This individual must be bilingual (English/French) to effectively communicate with schools, parents, and drivers.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily driver assignments and route coverage.
- Monitor radio and GPS systems to track vehicle locations and respond to incidents.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, maintenance staff, and management.
- Handle last-minute changes, absences, and emergencies with professionalism.
- Maintain accurate records of routes, incidents, and driver attendance.
- Support driver check-in/check-out procedures and ensure compliance with schedules.
- Assist with customer inquiries and service requests.
- Collaborate with the Location Manager to improve operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education is an asset.
- Previous experience in dispatch, transportation, or logistics preferred.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with computer systems and dispatch software.
- Bilingual (English/French) is required for this role.
