The Director, Variation Management will be responsible for developing and maturing the variation management skillset and workflows within the Auto and Property Claims organization. Additionally, the Director will regularly update senior leaders and stakeholders on key milestones accomplished and associated benefits achieved.
This role requires strong organizational skills, maturity, and self-direction. The ideal candidate will bring strong strategic and interpersonal skills to leverage variation management best practices from across the company.
Responsibilities:
Create a multi-year strategy for best-in-class variation management practices to drive broad-scale improvement within the Claims organization
Develop project plans, identify key stakeholders, define criteria for success, and effectively manage scope, teams, and deadlines
Lead a federated project team including key leaders in claim, strategy, training, technology, and subject matter experts
Partner and influence to drive change across the organization
Identify essential data elements and claim metrics that empower handlers to control their performance and enhance ongoing variation management efforts
Develop clear project visuals and effective communication of project vision, milestones, and successes
Promote and encourage an inclusive culture
Model professional and ethical leadership, adhering to corporate code of conduct
Qualifications:
Minimum of seven years of relevant work experience at a large insurance carrier required
Experience successfully leading complex projects in a large corporate setting
Significant change management initiatives
Strong working relationships and influence across multiple departments and leadership levels
Intellectual curiosity; demonstrated critical and strategic thinking and analytical skills
Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently and manage time and priorities effectively
Bachelor's degree preferred, equivalent work experience may also be considered
This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our office locations will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.

Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
