Experiences is a key part of Moonpig Group, connecting customers with thousands of memorable experiences through Buyagift, Red Letter Days and a network of trusted merchant and retail partners.
We're looking for a Director of Technology to lead the next phase of our technology evolution. This isn't simply about running an existing technology organisation—it's about defining what our technology landscape needs to become.
Reporting to the Group Chief Product & Technology Officer and partnering closely with the General Manager, Experiences, you'll shape the technology strategy, architecture and data capabilities that underpin the future of the Experiences business. From reviewing our partner-side platform to determining where modernisation or replatforming will create the greatest value, you'll influence technology decisions that deliver meaningful commercial and customer outcomes.
You'll provide leadership across Engineering, Data and Product, developing high-performing teams while ensuring technology investments support long-term business growth. If you're excited by complex transformation, strategic thinking and the opportunity to shape the future of a growing marketplace business, we'd love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and lead the long-term technology strategy for the Experiences business, aligning technology investment with commercial ambitions.
- Review the existing technology estate, identifying where to modernise, simplify, replace or retain platforms to maximise business value.
- Lead a comprehensive assessment of the partner-side platform, developing recommendations across architecture, data, migration, sequencing, investment, organisational capability, risk and expected business outcomes.
- Lead platform transformation initiatives where replatforming is the right solution.
- Shape technology capabilities that support partner content, product and catalogue data, merchant onboarding, operational workflows, consumer shopping, voucher fulfilment, redemption and exchange journeys.
- Lead the Experiences Data Platform, ensuring reliable, accessible and well-structured data that supports commercial insight, product development and operational decision-making.
- Define how data architecture should evolve alongside application architecture to support future business needs.
- Partner closely with the General Manager and Experiences Leadership Team, bringing technology and data into strategic business decisions.
- Translate complex technical, architectural and delivery challenges into clear recommendations for senior business stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Data, Security and Platform leaders across Moonpig Group to maximise shared capabilities while supporting the unique needs of the Experiences business.
- Lead two cross-functional squads and the Experiences Data Platform team, creating an environment where people have clear goals, strong technical standards and the autonomy to make great decisions.
- Develop engineering and data leadership capability, ensuring the organisation has the skills required to deliver its future technology strategy.
About You:
- Significant experience leading technology organisations at a senior level.
- Deep technical credibility across modern software architecture, platforms and engineering.
- Strong understanding of data architecture and modern data platforms.
- Proven experience leading platform modernisation, replatforming or large-scale technology transformation within commercial environments.
- Confidence evaluating architecture and engineering decisions while balancing technical debt, investment and long-term business priorities.
- Experience leading or partnering closely with Data Engineering teams.
- Strong understanding of how application and data architecture work together to support business growth.
- Commercially minded, with the ability to connect technology decisions to customer and business outcomes.
- Comfortable partnering with senior executives and influencing strategic decision making.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex technology challenges for a wide range of stakeholders.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and developing future technology leaders.
- Strong product and customer instincts, with an appreciation of how technology, operating models and customer propositions interact.
- Comfortable operating in lean environments where prioritisation, pragmatism and sound judgement are essential.
- Experience within marketplaces, ecommerce, partner ecosystems, voucher businesses or complex retail integrations would be beneficial, although we're most interested in the scale and complexity of the challenges you've solved.
