Your role and responsibilities:
As a Technical Solutions Director, you will hold overall technical, architectural, and functional leadership for ABB’s most complex energy industry solutions. This role provides direct people and technical leadership across three specialist domains: Complex Projects Solution Architecture, LNG & Chemical Process Automation and Power Generation Automation. You will be accountable for technical integrity, architectural consistency, engineering governance, and capability development across these domains. Acting as the senior technical authority, you will ensure that integrated solutions across control, electrical, and digital platforms are robust, compliant, scalable, and aligned with ABB’s global technical strategy

Owning the end-to-end technical solution framework for large and complex energy industry projects, including LNG terminals, petrochemical complexes, refineries, hydrogen plants, and power generation facilities.
Acting as final technical authority for integrated architectures covering ICSS, DCS and SIS, PMS, Electrical and Automation integration, and the digital and data infrastructure offering
Provide direct line management, mentoring, and technical leadership to senior solution architects and technical specialists across complex projects, LNG/chemicals, and power generation domains
Leading the definition and validation of scalable, standard-based system architectures across diverse project and lifecycle scenarios (greenfield, brownfield, migration, modernization)
Serving as ABB’s senior technical representative in high-level discussions with customers, EPCs, licensors, and consultant
Providing technical governance and escalation support across the project lifecycle—from early concept through execution and commissioning.
Driving the champion adoption of advanced automation, digital platforms, analytics, and lifecycle optimization technologies.
Ensuring consistent technical positioning and implementation of cybersecurity, remote operations, and digital architectures
Qualifications for the role
Minimum of 10 years of experience in a relevant role within Energy Industries (LNG, chemicals, refining, power generation)
Strong people management skills with around 5 years of experience managing a technical team.
Proven track record in delivering and governing large-scale, multi-discipline automation solutions
Strong knowledge of ICSS, DCS and SIS architecture, and Power Management Systems and electrical integration.
Bachelor’s degree in electrical, automation, instrumentation, chemical Engineering, or related engineering discipline, master’s degree is a plus
Professional certifications in systems engineering or project execution are beneficial
Ability to influence technical decisions across regions and organization boundaries.
