Overview

Microsoft Advertising is seeking a Director, Technical Solutions to lead a global organization of Technical Account Managers and Technical Solutions professionals supporting strategic customers, agencies, technology partners, and publishers.

This organization serves as the technical bridge between customers and Microsoft Advertising. The team works alongside sales, product, engineering, and customer-facing stakeholders to help customers successfully adopt, integrate, optimize, and scale Microsoft Advertising solutions.

The Director, Technical Solutions is responsible for defining the vision, strategy, and operating model for the Technical Solutions organization while developing high-performing teams and cultivating solid partnerships across the broader Microsoft ecosystem.

This role requires a combination of technical depth, customer-facing leadership, business acumen, organizational leadership, and a passion for helping customers achieve measurable business outcomes.

AI Experiences employees who live within a 50- mile commute of a designated Microsoft Hub in the U.S. are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction.


Responsibilities
  • Lead the Technical Solutions Organization
    • Lead and develop a global organization of managers and technical professionals.
    • Define the long-term vision, strategy, priorities, and operating model for Technical Solutions.
    • Build an inclusive, high-performance culture focused on customer impact, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
    • Drive workforce planning, talent development, succession planning, organizational health, and hiring.
  • Drive Strategic Customer Success
    • Build trusted relationships with executive stakeholders across strategic customers, agencies, publishers, and technology partners.
    • Ensure customers receive proactive technical guidance that accelerates adoption and business value realization.
    • Serve as a senior escalation leader for complex and business-critical customer situations.
    • Create scalable engagement models that balance exceptional customer experiences with operational efficiency.
  • Accelerate Product Adoption and Growth
    • Partner with commercial teams to drive adoption of new products, capabilities, APIs, measurement solutions, and emerging technologies.
    • Identify opportunities to increase customer success through firmer technical engagement, improved onboarding, and expanded utilization of platform capabilities.
    • Establish repeatable best practices, playbooks, and customer engagement frameworks that can be scaled globally.
  • Influence Product and Engineering Strategy
    • Build solid partnerships with Product Management and Engineering organizations.
    • Create mechanisms that transform customer feedback, adoption challenges, and technical friction into actionable product and engineering insights.
    • Advocate for investments that improve customer experiences, simplify adoption, and accelerate growth.
  • Drive Organizational Excellence
    • Develop data-driven approaches for measuring customer outcomes, technical engagement effectiveness, operational performance, and business impact.
    • Establish clear accountability for customer success, adoption, escalation management, and stakeholder satisfaction.
    • Lead through change and continuously evolve the organization to meet emerging customer and business needs.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Data Science, Cybersecurity, or related field AND 6+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering, systems engineering, or industrial controls
    • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Data Science, Cybersecurity, or related field AND 8+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering, systems engineering, or industrial controls
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Data Science, Cybersecurity, or related field AND 12+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering, systems engineering, or industrial controls
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Significant experience leading managers and technical organizations.
  • Experience supporting enterprise customers, strategic accounts, agencies, technology partners, or complex commercial organizations.
  • Experience building and leading customer-facing technical teams.
  • Experience driving outcomes across Product Management, Engineering, Sales, Customer Success, and related cross-functional organizations.
  • Experience managing executive-level stakeholder relationships and complex customer situations.
  • Demonstrated success developing organizational strategy and executing through influence in highly matrixed environments.
  • Experience leading Technical Account Management, Customer Engineering, Strategic Customer Success, Technical Consulting, Customer Advisory, or similar organizations.
  • Experience supporting enterprise software, cloud platforms, AI-powered technologies, API ecosystems, advertising technology, SaaS platforms, or digital transformation initiatives.
  • Experience working with large global advertisers, agencies, publishers, or technology partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence product strategy through customer insights and market feedback.
  • Solid executive communication, change leadership, and organizational transformation experience.
  • Proven track record of building diverse, high-performing global teams and developing future leaders.

Service Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $142,800 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
