The Director, Strategic Sourcing (Mechanical) is a global leadership role responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for Nextpower tracker systems, foundation equipment, and robotics (PV inspection). This position ensures innovation, resilience, and cost competitiveness across a global supply chain to support Nextpower growth and customer commitments worldwide. The role requires deep expertise in mechanical sourcing, supplier development, and global team leadership.

Job description:
  • Develop and execute comprehensive sourcing strategies for mechanical components across trackers, foundation equipment, and robotics, aligned with organizational objectives.

  • Build and manage a resilient, cost-competitive, and innovative global supply base through supplier identification, evaluation, and strategic partnerships.

  • Negotiate contracts and long-term agreements that drive value, quality, and on-time delivery, while protecting Nextpower's strategic and financial interests.

  • Partner closely with engineering, operations, quality, R&D, and new product introduction teams to align sourcing with product roadmaps, technical requirements, and quality standards.

  • Drive innovation and cost competitiveness through supplier collaboration, value engineering, and advanced manufacturing processes.

  • Leverage digital tools, data analytics, and market intelligence to optimize sourcing decisions, total cost of ownership, and supply chain resilience.

  • Proactively manage supplier performance (cost, quality, delivery, engineering support) with clear metrics, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Anticipate and mitigate risks including supply chain disruptions, tariffs/trade policy, quality issues, financial instability, and geopolitical dynamics.

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, ethical, and sustainability/ESG requirements, while promoting supplier diversity and responsible sourcing practices.

  • Monitor global market trends, technologies, and emerging supply models to keep Nextpower ahead of industry shifts.

  • Lead, develop, and mentor a high-performing global sourcing team; foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation.

  • Set clear performance goals, measure outcomes, and provide regular feedback to ensure team and organizational success.Manage and strengthen a high-performing mechanical sourcing team, providing guidance, coaching, and professional development opportunities.

Required Qualification & Experience:
  • 20+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, or supply chain, with extensive focus on mechanical parts such as tools, fasteners, gearboxes, dampers, actuators, sheet metal, enclosures, castings, tools, equipment, electro-mechanical parts and related assemblies.

  • Proven global leadership experience managing both supplier bases and teams across multiple regions.

  • Deep knowledge of mechanical manufacturing processes (forging, casting, machining, sheet metal, automation, robotics assemblies).

  • Demonstrated ability to drive cost reduction, supplier innovation, and supply chain resilience at scale.

  • Skilled negotiator with strong analytical capability, business acumen, creativity, and effective communication skills.

  • High degree of autonomy, accountability, and ability to lead change in complex, fast-paced environments.

Preferred Qualification & Experience:
  • Experience in solar, renewable energy, industrial equipment, heavy machinery, automotive, or robotics sectors.

  • Track record in sourcing for new product introduction (NPI) and scaling new technologies.

  • Strong familiarity with digital procurement and supply chain systems (ERP, PLM, supplier collaboration platforms).

  • Willingness to travel up to 30% (Asia, EU, and within the US).

 Pay is based on market location and may vary based on factors including experience, skills, education and other job-related reasons. The annual salary range for this position is $190,000 to $220,000. (Salary applicable to California)
