Job Description

UC Health is hiring a full-time Director of Strategic Sourcing

The Director of Strategic Sourcing will develop, implement and be responsible for enterprise sourcing and contracting operations for clinical and non-clinical supplies. This position will appraise, improve and implement sourcing activities by analyzing system spend, supplier partnerships and assessing new market opportunities for sourcing. This role will advise internal stakeholders on critical supply decisions, and will combine analytical thinking with hands-on implementation to develop solutions to sourcing categories. This role will be responsible for all phases of sourcing which require skills to identify cost savings opportunities, create competitive environments, creatively negotiate and generate contracts to assure seamless availability of all products to support the company objectives.

Responsibilities

Management • Responsible for overall strategic sourcing and contract management activities and implement action items to ensure goals are achieved. • Conduct eRFP or traditional RFPs as required and negotiates contracts for specific product categories.• Responsible for negotiations for best possible cost based on market indexes.• Develop optimal strategies which achieve sustainable relationships with suppliers and ensure organizational goals are achieved. • Research and anticipate shifts in goods and supplier market and develop action plans based on predicted market changes. • Analyze market trends and evolving technology to proactively identify supply base issues to minimize risk, protect supply flow and emerging opportunities. • Establish and maintain supplier relationships.• Participate and contribute to short-term and long range planning and budget development of the enterprise to support strategic plans and goals. • Develop a supplier management program with key metrics including, but not limited to, performance goals, savings goals and quality improvement initiatives. • Lead and oversee Sourcing and Contracting team as well as the recruitment / retention, training and coaching of direct reports including performance reviews. • Assess and score supplier core competencies and competitive positioning using industry models.• Establish and implement supplier agreements by working with cross-functional stakeholders and suppliers to reach agreement on pricing, terms and conditions. • Participate and manage major supplier agreements within the Value Analysis Program • Monitor supply market for leading indicators for changes in commodity or supply resources and demand.• Maintain effective communication with all internal and external customers. • Serves as subject matter expert on reducing cost (contracting, standardization, and utilization).

Strategy development • Establish, implement and manage policies and procedures related to sourcing and contracting and ensures compliance within the department and enterprise. • Understand organizations spend to identify and pursue optimal sourcing strategy with supply market. • Establish and maintain strategy to identify all viable suppliers within the market and ensure sourcing criteria meets all key stakeholder, objectives and business requirements.• Develop, implement and manage category sourcing strategy with rolling multi-year plan.• Develop transition plans with disengaging suppliers supporting onboarding and transition process with new suppliers. • Support and lead continuous improvement of productivity and efficiency of processes within the department and throughout the enterprise.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Required: Bachelor's Degree in Business. Preferred: Master's Degree - MBA/MHA or related.
  • Minimum Required: 3 - 5 years of equivalent experience.
  • Healthcare experience is highly preferred.
