Position Summary

The Director of Strategic Sourcing – IT leads the organization’s IT sourcing and supplier management strategy, including software, cloud services, hardware, cybersecurity, and IT professional services. This role delivers value through cost optimization, supplier innovation, risk mitigation, and strong contract execution.

Partnering closely with IT, Finance, Legal, and Information Security, the Director aligns sourcing strategy with enterprise technology priorities. This role leads a team and is accountable for category strategy, supplier performance, negotiations, governance, and continuous improvement.

Strategic Leadership
  • Develop and execute IT sourcing and category strategies aligned to business and technology priorities

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to IT leadership, Finance, and business stakeholders

  • Establish sourcing governance, policies, and best practices

Strategic Sourcing & Category Management
  • Lead end-to-end sourcing initiatives, including RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, and negotiations

  • Build total cost of ownership (TCO) models and business cases

  • Drive supplier consolidation, cost optimization, and efficiency improvements

  • Evaluate emerging technologies and sourcing models to support digital initiatives

Supplier & Contract Management
  • Manage key technology supplier relationships and performance

  • Negotiate complex enterprise agreements across software, SaaS, cloud, hardware, and services

  • Ensure strong commercial terms (pricing, SLAs, security, IP, risk protections)

  • Partner with Legal, Security, and Risk teams on supplier governance and risk management

Financial & Commercial Management
  • Deliver cost savings, cost avoidance, and working capital improvements

  • Monitor and optimize IT spend, licensing, and cloud utilization

  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities

Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Build relationships across IT, Security, Architecture, PMO, and business teams

  • Influence stakeholders on sourcing strategy and decisions

  • Drive adoption of procurement processes with a customer-focused approach

People Leadership
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a high-performing sourcing team

  • Set performance goals and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement

Risk & Compliance

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Finance, Information Systems, or related field.

  • Master's degree or MBA preferred.

  • 10+ years of progressive procurement or strategic sourcing experience.

  • 5+ years leading enterprise IT sourcing and category management.

  • 3+ years of leadership experience.

  • Demonstrated success negotiating complex enterprise technology agreements valued at multiple millions of dollars.

  • Experience with strategic sourcing methodologies and category management.

  • Strong understanding of software licensing models, SaaS, cloud platforms (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud), cybersecurity, and IT professional services.

  • Knowledge of software asset management (SAM) and IT asset management (ITAM).
