About the role and team

Uber's Mobility business is at the center of how millions of people move every day. As Director of Strategic Finance for US & Canada Mobility, you will lead the finance strategy for one of Uber's largest and most strategically important business segments, partnering directly with regional leadership to accelerate growth, optimize investment decisions, and drive long-term financial performance.

This is a highly visible leadership opportunity at a pivotal moment for the business. You will play a critical role in shaping the region's next phase of growth, balancing near-term financial performance with investments that strengthen our competitive position.

Leading a team of finance professionals, you will serve as a trusted strategic partner to senior executives across Operations, Product, Technology, and Marketing. Success requires more than financial expertise: we're looking for a commercially minded leader who can translate complex data into actionable insights, challenge conventional thinking, and mobilize teams to deliver meaningful business outcomes.

What you’ll do

  • Shape growth strategy: Partner with US & Canada Mobility leadership to identify growth opportunities, evaluate strategic investments, and accelerate business performance.
  • Drive performance & forecasting: Own regional financial planning, forecasting, and reporting while providing clear visibility into business trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Capital Allocation: Evaluate trade-offs between growth and profitability to direct resources toward high-return strategic initiatives. Decide on investments across a complex multi geo and product portfolio; decide how much to invest in demand vs supply and existing vs new product innovation
  • Serve as executive thought partner: Advise senior leaders with analytical rigor, commercial judgment, and actionable recommendations on critical business decisions.
  • Lead cross-functional alignment: Work closely with Operations, Product, Tech, Marketing, and global Finance teams to translate strategic priorities into measurable results.
  • Develop a high-performing team: Lead, coach, and elevate a team of finance professionals, fostering accountability and a continuous development culture.
  • Communicate executive insights: Distill complex business dynamics and performance trends into concise, compelling narratives for executive leadership.
  • Champion operational excellence: Continuously improve operating processes, challenge existing assumptions, and drive organizational alignment around shared business goals.
  • Accelerate growth execution: Translate commercial insights into actionable growth initiatives, overcoming operational roadblocks to deliver financial targets.
  • Enhance financial governance: Ensure rigorous financial controls, weekly/monthly cadence excellence, and proactive communication of risks and opportunities.

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive experience across Strategic Finance, FP&A, Business Operations, Corporate Strategy, or related commercially oriented leadership functions.
  • Demonstrated experience in a strategic finance, business operations, or commercial leadership capacity within a complex, scaled technology or similarly dynamic business, with a track record of influencing and executing business decisions.
  • Demonstrated success partnering with senior executives to shape business strategy and influence material financial or operational decisions.
  • Experience supporting a large regional business or P&L with complex cross-functional stakeholder relationships.
  • Proven ability to translate complex financial and operational data into strategic recommendations and measurable business outcomes.
  • Experience leading, developing, and motivating high-performing teams.
  • Strong financial acumen, including forecasting, investment evaluation, resource allocation, and business performance management.
  • Exceptional executive communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional influencing skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background spanning multiple disciplines, such as Strategic Finance, Business Operations, Corporate Strategy, or investment banking/consulting followed by in-house operating leadership.
  • Experience in a two-sided marketplace, consumer technology, mobility, delivery, e-commerce, or large-scale platform business.
  • Track record of accelerating growth, improving business performance, or leading strategic transformation within a mature or highly competitive business.
