The Opportunity
We are looking for a seasoned Director Software Engineering to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in managing the application development team for our book of record platform within the SIS division. Reporting directly to the VP Technology Solutions, you will integrate both local and offshore teams to deliver high-quality solutions that drive our business forward. You will coordinate improvements in workflows across product, development, and testing teams, ensuring that deadlines and quality standards are met. This position requires a strong understanding of integrating offshore development efforts and introducing best practices into the application development and deployment process.
Responsibilities
- Manage Development Teams: Lead and oversee an application development team for a book of record platform, ensuring seamless collaboration between local and offshore teams.
- Lead SDLC Improvements: Drive SIS Stability Remediation plans, improving the quality of SIS deliveries to clients. Champion automation initiatives to reduce manual effort across the delivery lifecycle, with an initial focus on testing.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Act as the central point of contact to coordinate deliverables and workflows among product management, development, and testing teams.
- Offshore Integration: Effectively manage and integrate offshore development activities, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.
- Stakeholder Communication: Maintain strong organizational and communication practices to ensure stakeholders are well-informed and aligned throughout the project lifecycle.
- Operational Excellence: Work closely with the VP Technology Solutions to drive efficiency, manage expectations, and assure the highest standards in our technology solutions.
- Cost Projection & Pricing Models: Understand Broadridge pricing models to accurately project costs and contribute to budget planning.
- Travel Flexibility: Be prepared for occasional travel (up to 10%) to support team collaboration and project delivery.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5-7 years’ experience in the wealth management industry, and 5+ years’ leading technology teams.
- Proven experience managing offshore development & QA teams is preferred.
- Ability to navigate both strategic and day to day operational responsibilities.
- Change management experience, leading quality improvements projects for the organization.
- Experience with multiple SDLC models including Waterfall, Agile & Hybrid
- Experience working with mainframe applications is an asset.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
