We are looking for a Director of Engineering with experience building and managing development teams responsible for delivering modern cloud-based software solutions. This individual, reporting to the SVP of Engineering, will work closely with the product team, customer success, marketing, finance and sales to ensure software solutions are delivered at the highest quality using industry best practices and against the agreed upon schedule and budget.

THE ROLE.
- Scale the engineering organizational structure and execution strategies and manage the overall software development and delivery lifecycle.
- Manage large teams across multiple operating units as well as coordinating with 3rd party offshore teams and contracted resources.
- Work closely with customer success to provide effective tier 2 and off-hour operational support.
- Define and track key metrics around development productivity and QA effectiveness.
- Execute against aggressive project plans and delivery commitments within an Agile/Scrum environment.
- Manage resource allocations, staffing levels, training, hiring, retention mentoring, team building and performance reviews across the teams.
- In conjunction with the above, lead business planning and budgeting/forecasting discussions with operations and finance teams
- Work closely with the SVP of Engineering and technical leads to architect and develop the best technical solutions and approach.
- Be flexible and adapt quickly to changes in product requirements and delivery schedule as needed to meet our business objectives.
- Research industry trends to ensure PlayOn stays on top of and leverages emerging new technologies where needed.
- Provide updates to the executive team and stakeholders on a regular basis regarding status of development, release management, QA, operations, support, and system performance.
THE PERSON.
- 10+ years overall software development industry experience
- 5+ years managing engineering teams of Developers, QA and DevOps.
- 5+ years delivering scalable cloud-based web applications
- 3+ years working in an AWS environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members and leadership throughout the organization.
- Strong familiarity with PlayOn’s technology stack - Java, spring boot • Angular • PostgreSQL • AWS,Bitbucket
- Education: BS in Computer Science or engineering. MS preferred
- Strong initiative, self-managing
