Role Responsibilities
As Director – Cloud Technology, you will provide enterprise leadership for Western Union’s cloud platforms and services, enabling secure, resilient, and scalable technology foundations that support global money movement, digital platforms, and operational systems. You will be performing below role –
- Own and execute the cloud strategy and roadmap aligned to CIO priorities, establishing strong governance, standards, and operating models with executive visibility into risks, investments, and performance.
- Lead cloud platform architecture across AWS, defining reference architectures and engineering standards while driving automation, Infrastructure‑as‑Code, and highly available, resilient platforms.
- Own CloudOps/SRE practices, including incident management, root‑cause analysis, and corrective actions, while embedding security‑by‑design and governing identity, access, encryption, and vulnerability management.
- Ensure regulatory, audit, and data protection compliance, including cloud security, risk, and control assurance.
- Own cloud financial governance and optimization (FinOps) and manage strategic cloud vendors and system integrators, ensuring accountability and performance.
- Lead and develop globally distributed cloud teams, build leadership capability and succession plans, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Role Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- 15+ years of technology experience, including senior leadership in cloud environments.
- Proven experience operating large-scale cloud platforms in regulated industries.
- Strong leadership experience managing globally distributed teams and strategic vendors.
- Highly effective communicator with the ability to influence and drive execution at all levels
- Action‑oriented mindset with a strong passion for driving measurable business outcomes.
- Advanced practitioner of a “test and learn” approach, with a track record of experimentation, learning from failure, and notable successes.
Work Shift
Western Union values in-person collaboration, problem solving, and ideation whenever possible. We believe this fosters common ways of working and supports how we execute initiatives for our customers. The expectation is to work from the office a minimum of three days a week.
