Overview
Mastercard Services helps organizations make better business decisions through data, insights, consulting, and technology-enabled solutions. As Mastercard continues to expand its Services business in the Netherlands, we are seeking a Director, Business Development to drive growth across Retail & Commerce organizations.
This role will focus on building commercial relationships with leading merchants, identifying new opportunities, and helping customers solve business challenges through Mastercard's broad portfolio of Services offerings. Working closely with specialist sales teams and internal partners, the successful candidate will play a key role in expanding Mastercard's presence within one of its strategic growth segments while supporting long-term revenue growth across the Dutch market.
All About the Role
• Drive growth of Mastercard Services across Retail & Commerce organizations in the Netherlands. • Develop and expand executive-level relationships within major retail, ecommerce, and fintech accounts. • Identify new commercial opportunities and build a qualified sales pipeline. • Lead customer discussions to uncover business priorities and align Mastercard Services capabilities to customer needs. • Coordinate with specialist sales teams to bring relevant expertise and solutions into customer engagements. • Drive sales opportunities across Mastercard's Services portfolio of data & insights, security, payment consulting and loyalty solutions. • Partner with internal stakeholders to develop sales strategies and support successful opportunity execution. • Maintain strong knowledge of market trends and customer priorities within the Retail & Commerce sector. • Contribute to growth strategy development and execution for the Dutch market. • Represent Mastercard externally at customer meetings, industry events, and commercial discussions.

• Extensive experience in business development, enterprise sales, consulting, or related commercial roles. • Proven experience working with senior decision-makers within large organizations. • Strong track record developing and growing commercial opportunities in complex sales environments. • Experience engaging customers within Retail & Commerce sectors or advising organizations operating in those industries. • Ability to identify customer challenges and align solutions to business priorities. • Experience working across matrixed organizations and coordinating multiple stakeholders throughout a sales process. • Strong commercial acumen and ability to influence strategic customer discussions. • Fluency in Dutch and English. • Experience with data, analytics, insights, technology, or consulting-led solutions preferred. • Payments industry experience, strategy consulting experience, or retail-focused commercial experience preferred.
