Role
As EU Services Business Development Lead - Governmental Vertical, you will help define and lead Mastercard's Services growth strategy for the Governmental Vertical across Europe.
The primary focus of the role is to drive sales acceleration and business growth by connecting local market opportunities with regional and product capabilities, aligning stakeholders across country, division, product, and Services Business Development teams, and translating public sector needs into a clear, commercially relevant growth agenda. Given the complexity of the Governmental Vertical, the role will require strong internal alignment, disciplined stakeholder orchestration, and the ability to connect teams across individual markets to build shared priorities, coordinate execution, and scale successful initiatives across Europe.
You will also drive the expansion of these capabilities into adjacent sectors where public sector engagement plays a critical role, including healthcare, education, mobility, and other strategic growth areas.
Key Responsibilities
• Help define and execute the pan-European Services growth strategy for the Governmental Vertical.• Deliver revenue targets through business development, pipeline acceleration, strategic account engagement, and partnership expansion.• Support building and maintaining executive relationships with key government stakeholders, public institutions, and strategic ecosystem partners.• Support the development of clear, commercially relevant value propositions that help local markets position Mastercard Services against priority government needs and accelerate sales conversations.• Identify and incubate new growth opportunities across adjacent sectors where public sector engagement is a key enabler, including healthcare, education, mobility, and future emerging verticals.• Partner with country, division, product, and Services Business Development teams to design scalable solutions addressing government priorities and societal challenges.• Orchestrate internal alignment across regional, divisional, country, product, and Services teams, ensuring local market priorities are connected into a coherent European growth agenda.• Drive sales governance, pipeline visibility, and executive reporting to ensure disciplined execution and measurable outcomes.• Collaborate with delivery and customer teams to ensure successful execution and long-term client value realization.
All About You
• Bachelor's degree required; MBA, or equivalent advanced degree preferred.• Substantial experience in business development, consulting, strategy, financial services, technology, payments, or public sector organizations.• Good understanding of government institutions, procurement environments, and digital transformation agendas across Europe.• Proven track record of developing growth strategies and generating revenue through complex, multi-stakeholder engagements.• Experience building executive-level relationships and influencing senior decision-makers across large organizations.• Demonstrated ability to translate customer needs and market opportunities into commercially actionable propositions that support pipeline creation, sales acceleration, and revenue growth.• Strong commercial acumen, strategic thinking, and execution discipline.• Exceptional communication, storytelling, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage audiences from practitioners to C-level executives.• Comfortable operating in a highly matrixed, multinational environment.• Proven ability to influence and align diverse internal stakeholders across complex, matrixed organizations and multiple European markets.• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to identify emerging market opportunities and translate them into growth initiatives.• Strong stakeholder management, prioritization, and organizational skills.
