The Role:
This is a rare and unique opportunity to be leading the Sales Team of Melbourne’s most luxurious hotel brand, The Langham, Melbourne.
As Director of Sales, you will maximise total revenue potential for The Langham, Melbourne across all segments, including group, corporate and MICE with a focus on acquisition and developing strong relationships with key business partners locally, regional and internationally
You will support the Director of Sales & Marketing in supervising and managing the day to day operations of the business as well as supporting the team to achieve our purpose

This role suits a commercially astute leader who thrives in a high-profile hotel environment and brings deep expertise across sales strategy, brand-led passion and drive, revenue collaboration and stakeholder engagement. The ideal candidate will bring proven experience from within the luxury hotel sector, with a strong understanding of high-end hospitality environments.
Some of the responsibilities include:
- Ability to demonstrate a proactive approach to sales and be a dynamic sales professional who will positively impact our business and clearly understand The Langham brand
- Key to success in this role is your understanding and knowledge of the Marketing function
- Maximise total hotel revenue, including room revenue, banquet and catering
- Maximise segmentation mix and develop business from existing channels while creating new business development opportunities
- Manage strong relationships with senior decision-makers from key leisure, PCO's, corporate accounts and travel agents
- New business research, solicitation, prospecting, and acquisition will be a large part of this role
- Building and maintaining strong relationships across internal and external clients, and other market and industry sources
- Working closely with the Director of Sales & Marketing to develop and implement strategies to maximise business
- Drive proactive and reactive sales activity, managing pipelines, key accounts and new opportunities
- Partner with Revenue Management on forecasting, pricing, distribution and RGI performance
- Lead and motivate the on‑site sales team with clear goals and accountability.
- Represent the hotel at industry events and within the local market to build profile and reputation.
- Ensure compliance with brand standards, company policies and governance requirements.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity to inform strategic decisions.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate strategy into clear, actionable outcomes.
- Confident negotiator experienced in key accounts, contracts and high‑value partnerships.

About you:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience within a 5-star luxury hotel sales environment
- Have a sound knowledge of the Marketing function of a hotel
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, relationship management and networking abilities
- A proven track record in achieving targets and yield management
- A collaborative and motivating leader of others with a strategic and analytical focus
