The Director, Oncology Provider & Specialty GPO Sales is a senior sales leadership role responsible for driving business growth while leading, coaching, and developing a high-performing team of sales executives. This leader will cultivate strategic relationships with oncology practices, cancer centers, health systems, and specialty providers to expand adoption of Cardinal Health's Oncology and Specialty GPO solutions. Equally important, the Director will foster a culture of accountability, sales excellence, and continuous development, ensuring the team is equipped to deliver exceptional customer experience and business results.
The successful candidate will have a proven ability to drive growth, build trusted customer relationships, lead through influence, and create a high-performance culture focused on delivering results. This role is based in the United States and leads a team that covers the entire country.
Responsibilities
Specialty Business Development & Market Leadership
- Drive growth of Cardinal Health's Oncology GPO solutions through strategic engagement with specialty providers, physician practices, health systems, and key healthcare stakeholders.
- Serve as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert on Specialty GPO offerings, helping customers identify solutions that support clinical, operational, and business objectives.
- Build and maintain executive-level relationships to expand market presence and identify new growth opportunities within the specialty landscape, with an emphasis on oncology and other specialty therapeutic areas.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure successful implementation, customer satisfaction, and long-term business growth.
- Stay current on specialty market trends, customer needs, regulatory considerations, and competitive dynamics to inform business strategy and customer engagement.
Sales Leadership & Talent Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of Sales Executives, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and customer-focused selling.
- Drive sales excellence through ongoing coaching, performance management, strategic account planning, pipeline reviews, and customer engagement support.
- Establish clear expectations and development plans that enable individual growth and elevate overall team performance.
- Recruit, retain, and develop top sales talent while building leadership capability and succession strength within the organization.
- Partner with the team to cultivate executive-level customer relationships and identify opportunities for expansion within existing accounts.
- Champion continuous learning by sharing market insights, industry trends, and sales best practices across the team.
Cross-Functional Leadership & Execution
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Marketing, Contracting, Pricing, Finance, and other cross-functional partners to deliver a seamless customer experience and support business objectives.
- Lead through influence in a matrixed environment, driving alignment across teams to remove barriers and accelerate results.
- Ensure effective customer transitions, issue resolution, and ongoing partnership management throughout the customer lifecycle.
- Represent Cardinal Health at industry events, customer meetings, and professional associations, strengthening the organization's presence within the specialty healthcare market.
- Contribute to strategic initiatives that support the continued growth and evolution of Cardinal Health's Specialty Solutions business.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in healthcare, pharmaceutical, specialty distribution, specialty pharmacy, oncology, or related healthcare sales environments.
- 5+ years of sales leadership experience with a demonstrated track record of leading, coaching, and developing high-performing teams preferred.
- Demonstrated track record of personally driving new business in hospital or specialty pharmacy programs (e.g., PO, 340B, specialty distribution, specialty networks).
- Active, credible relationships with acute care customers, hospital pharmacy leadership, and/or specialty pharmacy stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of the specialty pharmaceutical landscape, including specialty physician practices, specialty medications, distribution models, reimbursement considerations, and evolving market dynamics.
- Experience working across multiple specialty therapeutic areas, including oncology, and a solid understanding of the unique challenges facing specialty providers.
- Collaborative leader with the ability to build strong cross-functional partnerships and effectively influence stakeholders across a matrixed organization.
- Demonstrated ability to remove obstacles, drive execution, and create alignment to help teams deliver results and exceed customer expectations & sales goals.
- Strong leadership presence with exceptional coaching, talent development, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience utilizing CRM platforms such as Salesforce preferred.
- Ability to travel up to 50% nationwide.
- Customer/Vendor credentialing may be required (this may include vaccinations). More details will be provided if you are selected.

Anticipated base salary range: $205,800 - $270,500 (includes targeted variable pay)
