Director of Sales & Marketing — The Mondelle, Richmond, VA

A new luxury Hilton hotel. Three destination restaurants. A once-in-a-career opening.

Richmond is getting its next great address, and we're looking for the commercial leader who will put it on the map. The Mondelle is a brand-new luxury Hilton hotel opening in Richmond, Virginia — a full-service property built around three distinctive, chef-driven restaurant concepts and elevated meeting and event space. We're not looking for someone to manage an established book of business. We're looking for someone who wants to build one from the ground up.

If you've ever wanted to open a hotel — to be the person in the room before there's a lobby to stand in, writing the strategy that turns a construction site into a market leader — this is that job.

The Opportunity

As Director of Sales & Marketing, you'll sit on The Mondelle's Executive Leadership Team and own the commercial strategy for the entire property: rooms, groups and meetings, catering, and three standalone restaurant concepts that need to become dining destinations in their own right. This is a pre-opening leadership role, which means your first months are about building — the sales team, the key accounts, the market buzz, the bookings on the books before the doors ever open.

You'll partner closely with the General Manager, Revenue Management, and Food & Beverage leadership to shape everything from pricing and positioning to public relations and restaurant launch campaigns. You'll have Hilton's global sales resources and Hilton Honors behind you, and full ownership of how The Mondelle introduces itself to Richmond.

What You'll Be Doing

Leading the pre-opening charge Build the pre-opening sales and marketing plan from scratch — market research, competitive positioning, revenue goals, and a pipeline strong enough to carry the hotel through opening year. Represent The Mondelle at industry events, community gatherings, and ownership presentations well before the ribbon is cut.

Building and leading the team Recruit and develop a sales and marketing team built for a luxury opening. Set the tone: proactive, relationship-driven, accountable. Personally manage the relationships that matter most — key accounts, high-value clients, and the executive-level presentations that close them.

Winning groups, meetings, and catering Position The Mondelle as Richmond's premier choice for corporate meetings, conferences, weddings, and executive gatherings. Build relationships with meeting planners, associations, and destination management companies, and work with Catering to maximize the value of every event — not just the room block.

Launching three restaurants as destinations This is what sets the role apart. With three distinct restaurant concepts, you'll partner with the Executive Chef and F&B leadership to give each one its own identity, audience, and buzz — from opening campaigns and chef-driven experiences to brunch, private dining, and nightlife programming. The goal: restaurants that draw Richmond locals in, independent of who's staying upstairs.

Owning the brand story Shape The Mondelle's marketing, PR, digital, and social presence so that every photo, campaign, and guest touchpoint feels like the luxury experience it is. Tell the story of the hotel, the restaurants, and the city coming together.

Driving the numbers that matter Partner with Revenue Management on pricing and forecasting, and think beyond room nights — total revenue, profitability, ADR, RevPAR, catering, and restaurant performance are all part of how success gets measured here.

QualificationsWhat You Bring
  • 7–10+ years of progressive hotel sales and marketing experience, including senior leadership
  • A track record in luxury, upper-upscale, or sophisticated full-service hotels — Hilton experience is a strong plus
  • Hotel pre-opening or major repositioning experience — you know what it takes to build something from zero
  • Success across group, corporate, leisure, catering, and social segments
  • A real feel for restaurant and F&B marketing — you understand that a great restaurant is its own business
  • Experience building sales teams and presenting results to ownership and senior executives
  • Strong instincts for digital marketing, PR, and brand positioning
  • The presence to work a room with corporate executives, meeting planners, and high-profile clientele — and the drive to still pick up the phone and prospect yourself
Who Thrives Here

You think like an owner, not a caretaker. You'd rather create opportunities than wait for them to show up. You're as comfortable studying a demand forecast as you are hosting a client dinner, and you genuinely believe that three restaurants aren't an afterthought to a hotel opening — they're three more reasons to say yes. You want to build something Richmond will be talking about for years, and you want your name on how it got there.
