About the Role
 

Full-time Director within FTI Consulting's Corporate Finance practice in Madrid.

We focus on our clients’ strategic, operational, financial and capital needs by addressing the full spectrum of financial and transactional tests faced by corporations, boards, private equity sponsors, creditor constituencies and other stakeholders.

Candidates are required to have several years of relevant work experience in a Restructuring / Turnaround Corporate Finance team, preferably with leading advisory firm, investment bank or major corporation.

The Corporate Restructuring Practice is capable of delivering the most complex financial restructuring solutions to stakeholder groups. We provide analytical services to debtors, creditors and other stakeholders of companies experiencing unfavourable situations arising from liquidity problems, over-leverage, under-performance, right-sizing or other business transition issues.

What You Will Need to Succeed  
Relevant experience in day-to-day project management of the engagement involving: 

  • Assisting in the structuring of the engagement approach, scope and deliverables  

  • Managing the team to address the scope within the required timeframe and budget 

  • Communicating with the external stakeholders to keep them appraised of progress, initial observations, and issues 

  • Coaching and addressing the issues/problems faced by the junior team members 

  • Forming initial views and opinions on the engagement to debate with either lead Managing Director or Senior Managing Director 

  • Taking responsibility for producing and delivering the client a substantial element of the deliverable 

 Take a lead role in business development activities, such as: 

  • Organising client relationship, building events 

  • Contributing to thought leadership presentations and events  

  • Preparation and participation in formal pitches  

  • On the job coaching of our team  

  • Preparation and participation in training activities  

  • Building and sharing personal relationship networks 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Business Administration, Finance and / or Engineering Studies, or equivalent

  • Relevant corporate restructuring experience either on behalf of creditors or distressed corporates 

  • Starting to develop a professional network which is relevant to the Spanish restructuring market 

  • Business development and revenue generation experience is essential for Director and above  

  • Experience in delivering and managing restructuring/advisory work 

  • Experience of managing teams  

  • Previous experience in report writing and / or drafting sections of larger reports 

  • Experience of discussing and presenting findings to either clients, other stakeholders or senior internal team members  

  • Background:

    • Investment banking or Private Equity with excellent financial background and modeling skills (e.g. M&A and debt and equity financing experience)

    • Banking background such as leveraged finance, structured finance, workout

    • Corporate Finance boutique or Big-4 audit firm or financial advisory firm, ideally with financial/ debt restructuring focus, refinancing, working capital management

    • Restructuring / turnaround firm or specialized top consulting boutiques

    • Additional experience from corporate functions are a plus (Finance, Controlling, Treasury, Project Finance, Investor Relations, etc.) 

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work in a meritocratic structure which recognizes and rewards individual contribution 

  • Excellent report writing and analytical skills 

  • Good knowledge of Excel and manipulation/analysis of diverse data sets 

  • Self-starter and inquisitive. Team player 

  • Strong relationship management skills. Strong influencing and partnering skills 

  • Strong communication skills both written and spoken 

  • Ability to manage time and prioritise tasks effectively 

  • Native in Spanish. Fluent in English
